Palin Staff May Face Subpoenas Over 'Troopergate' Firing

An Alaska state investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner is turning into a power struggle between the state's executive and legislative branches.

While Gov. Palin, Republican presidential nominee John McCain's running mate, hits the campaign trail, lawmakers in Alaska are scheduled to meet Friday to decide whether to issue subpoenas to at least seven Palin administration officials.

All of the officials had previously agreed to meet with the independent investigator looking into Gov. Palin's firing of Commissioner Walt Monegan in July. Her critics say she did so because he refused to fire a state trooper who was involved in a bitter divorce with Gov. Palin's sister.

But the state officials canceled shortly before the depositions, just after Sen. McCain picked the governor as his running mate, which gave a national profile to what had been a local controversy.

Why has John McCain ceded control of his campaign and his party to Sarah Palin? Why would a man of his stature and experience turn everything over to this untested woman? There's only one conclusion: John McCain is a spineless wimp who's letting himself be pushed around by an unqualified and inexperienced woman because he thought it would help him win. Instead, Sarah Palin is positioning herself to shove him off stage and become the whole show herself. She's using him to get her hands on the presidency. John McCain is a henpecked weakling.

I hope the investigators ask these people who silenced them so that subpoenas were necessary. Was anybody offered any compensation to slow up the process? If Palin is found guilty, and removed from office (IF elected), YOU KNOW McCAIN WOULD APPOINT LIEBERMAN.

Apparently, some folks in Alaska disagree with you knee-jerk. MSNBC is reporting that Alaskan republican legislators failed to have the Democrat heading the investigation fired, there will be an investigation of yet another sitting republican in Alaska.

How like republicans to believe corruption is normal and an inconvenience to deal with.
