The Rachel Maddow Show Set To Premiere As Host "On The Cusp Of Full-Blown Stardom"

ST. PAUL - When Rachel Maddow arrived at a local café one morning last week on behalf of the Air America affiliate that broadcasts her three-hour drive-time show in the Twin Cities, she was dressed for radio, with a loose-fitting V-neck T-shirt and thick-rimmed black glasses.

One of the hundreds of listeners who patiently waited in line to meet Maddow came with an offering: a "Give Peace a Chance" lapel pin that she hoped Maddow would sport on her MSNBC television show. "I won't wear jewelry" on the air, Maddow said, apologetically affixing the pin to a corner of her shirt, near her waist. "I don't want to start a cascade of things I can't control."

It may be too late to stop the gush. Maddow was part of the original lineup on Air America, founded in 2004 to counter conservative dominance of talk radio under the market-friendly promise that liberals, too, could be entertaining. More than anyone else, Maddow fulfilled that pledge, with an affable and erudite approach to the day's news and the rhetorical combat that inevitably surrounds it.

Tonight, "The Rachel Maddow Show" debuts on MSNBC, leaving her on the cusp of full-blown stardom in the mainstream media that her most devoted fans see as an enemy.

Why on earth would that antagonizing, negative, obviously unhappy man be welcomed to this new fresh show??? If he's on..............I'm off.
There are plenty of not so insulting people she could get to replace him. His whole persona is that of an angry man who didn't win an election.

I love Rachel Maddow.
Her premiere show was good unil Pat Robertson reared his ugly head.
If Robertson is going to be a regular on the show, then I refuse to watch anymore.

It takes friction to run an engine. Having 'the other' there to contest your points of view means you won't just be sitting there with a like-minded soul saying, 'Yeah! I know! Ain't it the truth?!' Buchanan boils my blood from time to time, but of all the righty-tighties, he has been one of the more flexible. It strikes me, though, that lately he must be getting poked from the conservatives at home, saying, 'Hey, Pat, will you quit agreein' with them?!?!' so now he's getting a bit more contentious.

Just another last place show for MSNBC in the 9pm time slot she'll be gone in a year. But she did bring her 3 listeners from her Air America show. Played Mon-Fri I think AM 1865 station all I know is my dial does not go up that high and I cant get it in if it is cloudy or the moon is out or the stars are shining...

Looked like the powers that be got to both Keith & Rachel. Keith lost his toughness & Rachel let Pat shout over her..He lied & she didn't call him out on it. He was pretty pleased with himself & it showed. Mathews sounds whiney. Morning Joe turned into morning John. When Russert passed so did any accountability to the people. After the election the only news we'll see is car chases, mobile homes on. fire, floods & of course baby killers. I'll give it a couple of weeks to get rolling. But you can tell something happened durning the convention. Both Keith & Rachel just disappeared...Both seemed uneasy tonight

I just saw the first half. Please, someone, find a good graphic designer for the set behind her. This is a poor showing of art and design.

The little pink and blue rectangles with what appeared to be plasma flowing through them, and the huge pale, moving name behind her, was visually off-putting. Then, her name in rectangles, over a weird, cheap looking starburst. Generic clip art.

Don''t put a big, moving name behind her that can't be read, and is distracting. Was the set designed by a Republican, or what?

into rants and dominates everybody within 10 yards. And he, like Jesse Jackson, is from another
time and another place. Surely MSNBC can find more current people for Maddow.
