Politico:

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, who endorsed and worked for George W. Bush in 2004, is endorsing Obama today, NY1 first reported.

I asked Koch just now what prompted the move.

"The designation of Palin to be vice president," he said. "She's scary."

He said he was alarmed by the report that she'd triggered a conflict with the local librarian in Wasilla, Alaska by inquiring about the possibility of banning books.

Why have I not heard about this endorsement on TV. Why are they keeping this a secret. Maybe there will be an official endorsement on Thursday when Obama is in Ny on 9/11..

He should be worried. We have an old dude who has a wacky temper and an Alaskan with extremist views on women's rights for self determination and pro choice.

Koch is a smart man. I agree with him - I'm a white middle aged, middle class, straight guy and Palin's extremist beliefs scare the Hell out of me.

If we elect McCain and Palin,
our government will still be failing

Republicans give us lies, and more lies,
while pulling the wool up over our eyes

you will learn that these jerks,
have no idea of what really works

he's just a little old man with cancer,
who thinks war, war war is the only answer

Now all of a sudden he wants change,
yet he vetted his VP on a rifle range

They lied on Kerry and stole from Gore,
sent millions of jobs to a distant shore

On every issue he's flipped and flopped,
vote for Obama and he'll be stopped...

Now that's a shocker because he was soooo critical of Sen O. but I'm sure he's not the only one afraid of what Ms. Sarah stands for.

On the contrary, Ed Koch normally adores powerful women. He is gay, and probably finds Palin scary because she belongs to a church that hates gays. All gay people should find her scary including gays who are (inexplicably) Republican.

I've never much cared for Koch but anyone care for the definition of a political maverick take a look at this guy. He's a real maverick not a phony like McCain and Palin.

Still scary how Koch has OD'd on the darkside kool-aid. Maybe the ghost of Bella Abzug is haunting and shaming the turncoat.

Colbert did a nice piece on this last week- saying that she had the most executive experience, so she should be at the top. However, since she had executive experience she would know better than to pick someone without executive experience... so she would have picked Romney!

Someone teach ED how to use an internet browser so he can do some research and find out that the book banning story is nothing but a desparate Democratic attempt to put some dirt on her.

Actually, you should do some research. She DID talk to librarian about banning books.

From factcheck.org

"It’s true that Palin did raise the issue with Mary Ellen Emmons, Wasilla’s librarian, on at least two occasions, three in some versions. Emmons flatly stated her opposition each time. But, as the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman (Wasilla’s local paper) reported at the time, Palin asked general questions about what Emmons would say if Palin requested that a book be banned. According to Emmons, Palin "was asking me how I would deal with her saying a book can't be in the library." Emmons reported that Palin pressed the issue, asking whether Emmons' position would change if residents were picketing the library. Wasilla resident Anne Kilkenny, who was at the meeting, corroborates Emmons' story, telling the Chicago Tribune that "Sarah said to Mary Ellen, 'What would your response be if I asked you to remove some books from the collection?' "

Nice try Sparky.
