I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Obama hit the McCain campaign hard today over their attempts to claim the mantle of change.

[WATCH]

OBAMA: Let's just list this for a second. John McCain says he's about change, too. Except -- and so I guess his whole angle is, "Watch out, George Bush, except for economic policy, health-care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy, and Karl Rove-style politics. We're really gonna shake things up in Washington." That's not change. That's just calling some -- the same thing, something different. But you know, you can -- you know, you can put lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig.

He should've said "lipstick on Limbaugh."

I am thoroughly sickened by the garbage the Republicans are slewing constantly. They have been residing in the sewers for so long I doubt if they will ever get the stink off. This "Lipstick on a Pig" lie is just another in the long list of trash leveled at the Democrats and the brain dead "true believers" will just lap it up. I thank god that I have dual citezenship. If and when McSame gets elected it is Au Revoir. I may have been born in Inglewood, California, but I am ashamed by what has happened to this country.

Obama's statement was a reference to Palin's support of PORK BARREL SPENDING--which she lied about in her convention speech. As both a mayor and governor, she has actively lobbied for and accepted all the EARMARK CASH she could--including that for the "Bridge To Nowhere".

It starts getting ridiculous when we start getting petty. I'm a Republican who believes Obama when he says his "lipstick on a pig" comment was not an attack against Palin. He's used that line "before" she came on board, and so has McCain. It makes perfect sense that he was "used to" using that line and simply used it without thinking. None of us are perfect and say the correct thing 100% of the time. For my party to attack and make an issue of that is petty and downright childish. Not to say the other side hasn't been acting the same, especially towards Palin, but this childishness is really quite shocking to me... especially when it's coming from out "brightest" (or who should be anyway) in America.

John McCain and Sarah Palin are not our brightest in America.

I'm taking up for your party, and this is all you can say? I think you know what I meant here, and if you read carefully, you would see that I was talking of "both" parties, and everyone in those parties - not just the candidates themselves.

Obama plagerized the entire remarks (see newsbuster).
This wasn't an off the cuff remark.

"This whole thing is a fairytale!!!

Remember????

Obama tricks to slime an opponent....

But he needs women. huh???

I guess, his sexism trumps his desire to be President.

You want to lecture someone about sexism-Lecture McCain.

McCain's voting record on issues effecting women:

He voted against equal pay for women. Obama voted yes.

He voted against funding for victims of domestic violence.

And don't get me started on Palin, who believes that even in cases of rape and incest a woman should not have the right to an abortion. She and McCain are a major setback to women's rights.

Joe,

what are you talking about? McCain's campaign has been denigrating and lying about Obama non-stop since their convention. Obama is just starting to fight back and defend himself. Whether or not it was an off the cuff remark (probably not) it was pretty funny and no worse than all the remarks the McCain campaign has lodged against Obama. They are both fighting back and forth like little kids in school, but Obama wanted to run a clean campaign and even though McCain said he did too, it is pretty evident that the Republicans are incapable of doing so. They are a pretty nasty bunch and the only way they can win is with these sorts of below the belt tactics. Have you read most of the papers today calling out McCain for the blatant lies he has been spreading. It will come back to bite him in the ass and Obama will win because he is the better candidate whether you want to believe it or not. What exactly does McCain have to offer this country anyway?

I am a women who has supported Obama since day one, and most of my family and friends, male and female feel the same way. So he IS GETTING THE WOMEN'S vote.

Serenita why should 5% pay for 95% of the people
Also there is no way that Congress would get ride of taxes for seniors

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:04 PM on 09/10/2008

Tom,

5% of the tax paying population are not paying for 95% of the people. Every income producing individual in this country has to pay federal income tax. However, with G.Bush's Econmic Growith & Tax Relief Reconcilation Act of 2001 & its subsequent Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 it reduced all the tax brackets down by about 3% (ie 28% bracket down to 25%), however, the problem with these acts was that it provided the weathly taxpayers unfair advanatages of having too may tax incentives (deductions) and reduced their tax obligation thus shifting it to people in the middle income bracket. So it is dispropotionally unfair. If yout make more you should pay more taxes, but that is not what happened.

And as far as Congress not passing legislation to reduce or eliminate taxes for Senior Citizens, that is not necessarily true.

I think Obama WILL win despite all the negative campaigning McCain is doing and you will not be disappointed, he will do a great job, even though he has a tough job ahead of him.

Peace and Love

Thank all you who loved the "lipstick pig" and "fish' remark and commented on it.

Obama now has said he wasn't talking about Palin, but you are absolutely correct in your belief that he was.

I guess you enjoy insulting your opponents more than in regaining the White House.

Now Palin can build her base against a male chauvinist who insults women.

After Barry loses the election, he does have the talent to be the comedic opener for the big show biz acts.

I understand Russell Brand wants him under contract.

Bravo ... and "thanks for all the fish"

Obama was talking about McCain when he mentioned 'pig' and 'fish' - but I guess you don't like to read WHOLE posts.

Please go back and re-read the article. You must have missed the part where Obama was only talking about McCain at the time.

McCain/Palin is, in fact, all about change. To see how the Alaska wildlife environment would change in a McCain/Palin administration, see link:

http://www.grizzlybay.org/SarahPalinInfoPage.htm

To see how safe, private abortion would change, google "deaths in illegal abortions in Latin America".

To see how law enforcement would change, google "Palin supported charging rape victims for the rape kits used investigations".

Absolutely, a McCain/Palin administration would bring change, do not doubt that.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:51 PM on 09/10/2008

The only change McCain/Palin want is to change the name on the office doors of the President and Vice President. That change is guaranteed to occur even when they are not elected, this may be history as Republican candidate fulfills their goal by losing an election.

My point above is that I believe McCain/Palin policies are further to the RIGHT. I believe that as incompetent as the current administration is, and they are pretty bad, no doubt, McCain/Palin is MORE extreme, and thus, more dangerous.

I wonder if this scares moderate Republicans as much as us independents.

Yes, at last FINALLY!!! Thank you Barack Obama! The gloves are coming off. We know you are a gentleman and a scholar, and God knows this country needs that from you. But it's time to put the smackdown on John McCain and Sarah Palin.

You're a Bears fan. Remember how our weak offensive line kept the defense on the field for most of the game? They did their best, but you can't win by playing defense most of the game. Look at how the McCain team caved when you used the words "lipstick" and "pig". McCain's got a glass jaw, and it's called "Sarah Palin". She's his weak spot, a window dressing to hide the weakness of his stand on issues. If she can just look pretty and say nothing for talking points for the next two months, he might have a chance. But he's dead if she speaks for herself.

Force her to talk. Make her defend herself. The minute she opens her mouth to speak for herself, she's finished, and they know it. Flush her out and make it embarrassing and impossible for them to keep her silent. Put them on defense and keep them there.

John McSame didn't wear a flag lapel pin when he gave his acceptenace speech at the RNC. Why did John McSame not wear a flag lapel pin today in Fairfax, Virginia during a speech he gave (9-10-10). Could it be he is not patriotic enough? A couple month ago there was a big FUSS about Obama not being patriotic because he wasn't wearing a flag pin. Must be McSame forgot to put it on. Must be McSame has changed his mind about what a patriot is. Vote Obama/Biden in 08.

Why are "pigs" bad? Why the negative connatation? I have used that expression in court so many times to describe a act or concept that someone else is attempting to "camoflage" as something else. "Spin". Actually and obviously, one can use any animal. I do actually think , the "cliche" started with a dog. "This dog won't hunt" , then "you can dress that dog up but he still wont hunt" etc. about 30 years ago. Another vain attempt from the low road Republicans to smear Obama , who has taken the high road with respect to personalities and insists on talking about government and policies. This is atypical "Dumb" (not enough grade points between Palin and McCain to matter) jumping on any "mistake" they THINK they hear from "Smart" Seen it in classrooms a million times.

There's no more time for that. He's gotta do this or he's going to turn into John Kerry. It's time for the gloves to come off. There's no more time for gentleman politics. We're down to the wire. There'll be lots of time for sweet talk once he's elected. But now it's time for the beat-down. First you get the power. Then you create change. That's the only way it's going to happen. If we truly want that change, we're going to have to fight for it right now because THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE UP THEIR GRAVY TRAIN WITHOUT A FIGHT.

Look, we all love the sweet talk, but now it's time to talk a little dirty. Not to be crude, but while candy, flowers and dinner are great at the beginning of a relationship, to keep the passion going the animal in all of us wants to be grabbed by the hair, thrown down on the floor and ravaged. That's what this campaign needs right now. I love the sweetness too, but right now I need him to get a little rough because I need him to get elected. Rough isn't always bad and sweet isn't always good. I know he can be sweet, but now I'm ready for the rough stuff.

I am from Texas, a place full of people just exactly like W. These are people who make great and ruthless businessmen but incompetent and terrible leaders. What I can tell you, without question, is that these people care about NO ONE but themselves. What that ultimately boils down to is TAXES. Everyone down here in COVINCED that Obama will raise their taxes. And they repeat this nonsense over and over amongst themselves and to anyone who will listen. That is their ONLY issue. They will prattle on about family values, abortion, and the like, but that a smoke screen. They are hypocritical, ruthless, racist and mean. If Obama wants a prayer of winning he has to talk more about TAXES. I want to Obama to win this thing, but we have to get to what the other side cares about if we want to have a prayer.
I can't take 4 or 8 more years of this crap and please understand that it is so much worse for those of us in places full of these lipstick wearing pit bulls.
