Palin Interviewer Gibson Let Multiple McCain Lies Go Unchallenged

On the September 7 edition of Fox News Sunday, Rick Davis, campaign manager for Sen. John McCain, asserted that Gov. Sarah Palin would not be interviewed until "at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference." ABC News subsequently announced that World News anchor Charlie Gibson had secured the first television interview with Palin following her vice-presidential nomination, which is scheduled to air on September 11 and 12.

Indeed, during a September 3 interview with McCain, Gibson posed no challenge to several of his false, contradictory, or dubious assertions. For example, Gibson did not challenge McCain on his false claim that when Palin became governor of Alaska, she said, "No more [earmarks] for my state"; Gibson offered no rebuttal to McCain's claim that Sen. Barack Obama has never "taken on the special interests in his party on a major issue"; and did not note that McCain previously reportedly had a different view from his current one of the relevance of a governor's experience presiding over his or her state's National Guard.

I always liked Gibson and his interviews. He just listens and asks questions, instead of trying to be like the others where it's all about how rich they are and how the interview really isn't as important as their show. Gibson doesn't reduce his guests that way.

Gee, what interesting timing for McCain to attack Obama over the welfare of little children. McCain and Palin knew this story was coming. Newsweek contacted them for comment and I think they launched the (education) ad and the latest (you are all sexists!) attack in an effort to divert attention from this story. It is pretty damning, and makes Palin look kind of nasty-barracuda nasty, and not in the way McCain had hoped the public would see her, I suspect. I am gonna go out on a limb here and guess that neither the Obama nor the Bidens have ever heard a judge warn them about potential child abuse. Sarah Palin is increasingly not looking the poster child for the Republican family values

I would bet you anything that the McCain Camp has either made up the questions for Gibson to ask, or has been given the questions in advance to make up answers for Sarah.

Gibson works for ABC.......ABC belongs to Disney.......Disney is absolutely in the Republicans pockets where they have almost become FOX News. Have you seen Nightline fawn all over things all Palin lately. They allow Elizabeth Hasselbeck (The View) to take private company business and use it as a political tool at a news rally against Michelle Obama. Having watched the Clinton-Obama debate with Stephanopoulos and Gibson going nuclear on Obama there was no doubt Gibson would be easy on Palin. He should lose his job for the lame way he handled the interview. I read that Palin was given the questions beforehand. If she cannot stand-up to the press how will she stand-up to world leaders?

Unless the viewers threaten to boycott not only the station, but its advertisers, too this will continue through-out the rest of the election and beyond. The station and the advertisers do not care if viewers object, however, they care when their pocketbooks are threatened.

Iam so disgusted I could spit nails! Gibson needs to be held accountable. It is official Gibson is nothing but a prostitute. He sold out the American people for access to the campaign -- to spread their lies. What kind of journalism ethic is that?
