NEW YORK — Oh how things have changed for Barack Obama since he last appeared on "Saturday Night Live."

The Democratic presidential nominee's campaign revealed Thursday that he would be making his second appearance on the program, for the season premiere this weekend. Also scheduled to appear is Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Michael Phelps.

Obama last appeared on the program in November 2007, making a cameo during an opening skit about a Halloween party at Hillary Rodham Clinton's house, where she was portrayed as the presumptive president. As it turned out, Obama defeated Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Obama's campaign said details of his new sketch were still being worked out.

Comedy on the show has long been pronounced DOA

Yes, I can see how someone with absolutely no sense of humor to find intelligently written comedy DOA.
I am sorry.

He rightly cancelled, due to Ike...

And don't forget next week is the fundraiser with rich celebrities in Hollywood where tickets are only $28,500 and all the leftover food will be given to homeless people if they can contribute $1,000 to the candidate.

I can't wait!

Where did you get this information? Star Magazine? A load of BS, no doubt.

He can appear an SNL every night but he has already reached those viewers. The people who are voting for McCain are not watching.

It's so like barrack HUSSEIN obama to cling onto, and try to steal someone else's shining star by appearing on snl while micheal phelps will be hosting the show. barrack HUSSEIN obama is so calculating, yet doesn't realize his latest stunt will only connect to young minded, idealistic, naive already democrat voters. anyone with a brain will see right through his tactics and chalk it up as just another desperate act. i can here all the teeny boppers screaming now, God help us.

All good and fine. It should be fun.

But what I'm really looking forward too is Biden opening all guns and tearing McCain a new one for the disgusting campaign he's running.

Another Hollywood moment for the "star" Rock Obama
01:14 AM on 09/14/2008
"star" Rock Obama- who is that?

I know a Barack Obama, he apparently has more intelligence in his little pinky than you have in your entire brain.
He's going to win and make our country great again!

Judge a Man by his questions, not by his answers

i'm just not sure its a good idea to go on SNL ,at this time.
06:00 PM on 09/12/2008
At least this week Lorne Michaels will have someone who can do a proper Obama impersonation, rather than Armisen's Obama-who-never-smiles shtick.
06:34 PM on 09/12/2008
Personally, I would much prefer the man who has been playing HUSSEIN OBAMA. I have seen wwwaaaayyyyy too much of the real one already. I can't logon to my computer, but there is that sh***y smiling face and Never can watch any REAL news, he is always on my TV. THE MEDIA SEEMS TO BE UNABLE TO GET THEIR FILL OF HUSSEIN OBAMA. Evidently, the whitehouse is going to be bought by the Obama backers, the DNC and th Media. It won't be the first time it has been bought, but he will not win with a vote from me. NO OBAMA, NO WAY. What a terrible place the American citizens are in, in not having anyone except these two to vote for.
YET, YOU STILL WANT A PRESIDENT OF OUR COUNTRY THAT IS NAMES HUSSEIN!

This appearance is bad timing because of the coming onslaught of Hurricane Ike and its potentially disastrous effects. Depending on the severity of the damage, I'm not sure if it will look so good that he's making jokes and entertaining people when a major disaster is hitting our country. I would love to see him on SNL, but timing is everything, and this just isn't the right time. I just don't want Obama to fall into a trap, and also get branded once again as a "celebrity" by the GOP during a crisis. I hope the campaign is sensitive to this, but I've emailed them just in case.
05:54 PM on 09/12/2008
You're right...IT'S A TRAP! (veering off course)
04:25 PM on 09/12/2008
McCain is Lorne Micheal's candiate, he gave McCain $2300.00 for a campaign contribution.
04:02 PM on 09/12/2008
I think this is a bad idea. At a time when his campaign is beginning to fight back against the attacks of John McCain, I think it's bad politics to go on SNL. You can only do two things on this show as a politician, make fun of yourself, or make fun of your opponent. Now is not the time for comedy. Now is the time to take the focus off of the personalities and on to the issues.

How is there anything positive that can come out of this appearence? Whatever he does will most likely be made into a negative ad or negativee talking point against him. Even if it is just guilt by association. You can be sure there will be a Sarah Palin references by the cast in other skits if not in Obamas. Mabye someone can see something that I can't. Reply if you do.

By law doesn't NBC have to extend McCain/Palin the same offer.

Your post was "The Obama is taking on water this ship is going down fast".

Her reply to you woulb mean that vat6948 thinks your comment is stupid and, likely, thinks that you are stupid as well. Or should I have spelled it 'stoopid' for you? Judging by your sentence structure and clear lack of even how to properly handle a NOUN in the English language, I concur.
