Foreign Policy Prescience: Reality Catches Up With McCain On Pakistan

JOHN MCCAIN: "Will we risk the confused leadership of an inexperienced candidate who once suggested bombing our ally, Pakistan, and suggested sitting down without preconditions or clear purpose with enemies who support terrorists and are intent on destabilizing the world by acquiring nuclear weapons?"

President Bush secretly approved orders in July that for the first time allow American Special Operations forces to carry out ground assaults inside Pakistan without the prior approval of the Pakistani government, according to senior American officials.

I know that this story makes it look as if foreign policy reality is, as it has in Iraq, shifting to align with Obama's "accidental foreign policy." But, in keeping with tradition, surely the development will only disadvantage the Democratic candidate. After all, if John McCain maintains his opposition to the sensible pursuit of terrorists, in a break with the Bush White House, how can anyone claim that McCain promises "More Of The Same?" We're lighting out for the Gates Of Hell in January, remember! And the current state of the race being what it is, who dares claim we're not near that destination?
