Obama Camp: Saving Counterpunch For After 9/11

Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign launched a broadside against Sen. Barack Obama yesterday, accusing him of a sexist smear, comparing his campaign to a pack of wolves on the prowl against the GOP vice presidential pick, charging that the Democratic nominee favored sex education for kindergartners, and resurrecting the comments of the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.

The assault came a day before the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, when McCain and Obama are scheduled to appear together at Ground Zero during a mutually declared truce. That cease-fire is not likely to last long. With the airwaves already filling up with some of the most negative imagery of the campaign, Obama aides hinted that they would save their toughest counterpunch until after Sept. 11.

New slogan for Barack: TIME FOR NATION BUILDING IN AMERICA

Barack needs to have a simple, positive slogan about the economy that people can remember and it sticks. Based on Barack's plans and vision for Amercia, here is my suggestion: TIME FOR NATION BUILDING IN AMERICA.

I have found this to be very effective message when talking with independent voters. Everybody understands it, everybody (even Republicans) agree we need to do this and everybody understands that Republican won't do it. This distils Obama's economic message into a simple sound-bite and it will resonate with voters affected by the economy.

During the Presidential Forum in New York today, when asked about whether or not he would allow foreign born persons who earned PhD's or Doctorates in our country the opportunity to acquire green cards in order to stay and work in the U.S., McCain said he would definitely make a push for it although it would by no means be automatic.

The first question that arose in my mind is, "What about Americans who study and work their behinds off to get those same degrees?" It's not that I'm against allowing immigrants the opportunity, I just think we should focus on improving education at home and motivating our people to study and take those jobs. I think that this type of thinking is what stirs up resentment in people. We're prepared to bring in someone from the outside to do the same work we could be doing ourselves. I'm sure some will say that we don't apply ourselves enough and so we make it easy for outsiders. To that I will respond with a line from "Remember the Titans"...

"Attitude reflects leadership, Captain".

If the people at the top can't stimulate those who should rely on them to look out for their own best interests, perhaps we should seek new leadership. Or to steal another line from "G.I. Jane"....

"There are no bad teams Lieutenant, just bad leaders."

How in Gods name can Obama win this election when he answers Judy Woodruff's question about what difference there would have been between what McCain said he would have done if he was President on 9-11 and what Barack would have done; when Barack answers the question by saying that his response would not really that different than McCains. Did you guys see Obama on Letterman last night?

He was really, really good. Extremely presidential. He called out the smears for what they are - using a little humor - and then moved right into issues. Had real command of everything he spoke of. Gave what I hope is a glimpse at how he will be in the debates. After Obama left, and they came back from commercial, Letterman was like..."the thing about this guy...he's just smart...

I know we live in the same country that elected George Bush twice, but I think that if he does well in the debates, Obama will be our next president.

He is by far the best man for the job. Even though he was campaigning just a little, he was really just laid back and relaxed.
His intellect is unmatched by the two on the other side. The most important thing that we are seeing is that the truth speaks for itself. This is a man of morals and integrity.
