guardian.co.uk:

When Frank rang a brothel in Enfield, he could hear a baby crying in the background. When Alan called one in Southwark, he could make out the sound of a child asking for his tea. The trick to making legal prostitution work---and it should indeed be legalized in the U.S. and the U.K.---is strictly and thoroughly enforcing laws against street prostitution and non-licensed brothels with an iron fist (like mandatory 20 year jail sentences for the operators and pimps, confiscation of all of their personal property and lifetime supervised probation) for endangering the public health.

That will put an end to that problem while still allowing an industry that is now solely the province of organized crime in England the the USA to go on while taking another income source away from crooks and making this industry actually a contributor to society rather than a drain on it.

But I guess the Dutch and the Aussies just don't get the enforcement end of it, which is just dumb.
