De Niro Top Ten

On Thursday night's Late Show with David Letterman, he had special guests Al Pacino and Robert De Niro do the Top 10 list. Via satellite and seated in red leather chairs, the pair read off the Top Ten "Reasons I Like Being An Actor." Included was a plug for their movie "Righteous Kill," a dig at Sarah Palin and some hilarious one liners.

Watch beginning at 5:45, or scroll down to read the list:

10: Sometimes when I go to the movies, the popcorn guy will give me a free squirt of chemical butter
(Al Pacino)

9: Every time I go to work, I get to ask myself, "I wonder if I'll see Harvey Keitel naked"
(Robert De Niro)

8: Well, you've got to keep honing your craft or you could end up out of the business and taking a job as Governor of California
(Al Pacino)

7: If you do a scene where you're eating pudding, they often let you keep the pudding
(Robert De Niro)

6: I got to meet Spider-Man
(Al Pacino)

(Robert De Niro)

(Al Pacino)

It is all about the script..! Give Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino a script like ~ "HEAT" ~ in 1995 and it would be unforgettable...!

What the movies needs is another cop film.

The Letterman schtick was funny, unfortunately "Righteous K*ll" was awful.

A not-bad top 10, but the "bad news segue" was the funniest thing on the clip. The boys seemed to be having trouble with the lines. I wish they'd both resign themselves to playing juicy character parts in interesting films, the way Dustin Hoffman has, rather than leads in potboilers like the one they're promoting now.

Just as I have been predicting (not through any power of foresight - just plain common sense) McCain's lead from early this week is down by more than half.

I saw that last night and it was pretty funny. However, did anyone else notice that Pacino is not too good at cold reading?

How weird that Pacino got the stupid ones, De Niro got the funny ones, and Dave had to keep repeating Pacinos, making them even less funny...

Al looks bad. He seemed a bit out of it, like Kirk Douglas after his stroke...

What a lousy youtube clip...I had to wait through 5 minutes and 10 seconds to get to the top ten list.

Has anyone seen the Sesame Street skit with DeNiro and Elmo?

DeNiro explains to Elmo that, as an actor, it's his job to pretend and use his imagination. DeNiro then "imagines" that he's a little red monster. Camera cut and there's two Elmo puppets, one is still Elmo and the other is with DeNiro's voice. Elmo proclaims, "Wow! You're really good at using your imagination!" The skit ends with the two them in a giggle fit.

It's really one of the best, and most clever, Sesame Street skits I've seen.
