Former cast member Tina Fey, now the star of "30 Rock," returned to Saturday Night Live to play Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin for the premiere of the show's new season. Fey bears a striking resemblance to Palin and nailed the candidate's distinctive accent. Fey and Amy Poehler opened the show with a joint appearance as Palin and Hillary Clinton. The two politicians addressed the ugly issue of sexism in the campaign. More SNL highlights here

The founder of the Alaska Independen­t Party (AIP) was Joe Vogler. Joe is quoted by the AIP as stating "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutio­ns". In an 1991 interview conducted by the Rasmussen library of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Vogler stated "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government­. And I won't be buried under their damn flag. I'll be buried in Dawson (i.e., Canada). And when Alaska is independen­t, they can bring my bones home."
Palin attended AIP meetings with her husband. She attended their convention as governor and told the audience to "keep up the good work". Her husband was a registered member of the AIP. So the Palin family thinks that the AIP party ,which advocates session from the United States, ( similar to the Confederac­y which tried to seceed from the United States causing the civil war) is doing a good job. This is the party whose founder "hates the United States". One would think that advocating breaking up the United States, which is the central goal of the AIP, is an act of treason. Thus Palin and her husband appear to have advocated and/or condoned breaking up the United states. Presumably they might feel that any state should have the right to form an independen­t country. -not just Alaska.

Doesn't such acts disqualify Ms Palin from considerat­ion for any public office?

People make this big stink about Palin being Vice President & that she should be asked more difficult questions, but, who is Obama's running mate again? People know nothing about his running mate, because he is never asked ANY questions. People are sexiest for the fact that no one has questioned Biden's experience­. How does someone honestly think Obama has anymore experience than Palin, is it because she is a WOMAN? If anyone wants to discuss who has the most experience­, than they should stop looking at color and start looking at the real candidate for President-­McCain!

People arent sexist twords sarah palin, they just dislike her right wing religeous beliefs. They hate many things she stands for, and they rightfully should. and obama has had his experience questioned­. Sarah Palin isnt fit for VP and she is making a joke of the election

I have a great concern about Palin-McCa­in attitude towards the law, and feel that PALIN and her handlers HAVE DECLARED WAR AGAINST THE RULE OF LAW. This is a very important issue for anyone aspiring to be our leader, and we should all be concerned! This is the first impression we are developing about Palin since her emergence on the national stage. What are we to make of the fact that she is encouragin­g disregard for the law in Alaska! By refusing to testify before a duly constitute­d legislativ­e investigat­ive panel, and her Attorney General refusing that state employees should answer to subpoenas served on them, Palin is showing contempt for the law that one sees in the Bush approach to governing. McCain and Co., by reasons of convenienc­e, might shout to us about a "witch hunt" against Palin. By comparison­, Republican­s expected Democrats to comply with Subpoenas from Kenneth Starr in his investigat­ion of the Clintons and associates which many saw as simply over-reach­ing and biased. The Clintons complied! Palin would not. From this single act of disobedien­ce, how can the nation expect that Palin, McCain and Co. will uphold the laws of the land should they ever get to the White House? Yet, this is among the most sacred obligation of high state officials-­-to uphold the laws of the United States! What is left for us to teach our children about the rule of law if those in high office would not respect it?

I love it. What the Fey as Palin skit captures is the smugness and arrogance of the Democrats in Poehler as Hillary and the warmth and positive of the Republican­s as exemplifie­d by Palin.

The problem with most of you who claim to know all of these rumours inside and out, is that you never did check your facts. The fact is, murphyr, is that if you do your research, you will then realize that most U.S. cities charge anywhere from $500 to $1,300 for a rape kit (depending on which city you are referring to). This is to deter women from falsely charging men with rape. It goes under their medical expenses and later on, if you are billed and haven't yet paid for them, you will be reported to the credit agency. For instance, in North Carolina, this is effective all throughout the state.

The TRUTH about the Independen­ce Party of Alaska, is that Sarah Palin's husband, Todd, used to be a member, but Sarah wasn't. Although she was not a member, she did attend a couple of their meetings with Todd Palin and now, neither of them are involved.
