Reuters:

ISLAMABAD - Firing by Pakistani troops forced two U.S. military helicopters to turn back to Afghanistan after they crossed into Pakistani territory early on Monday, Pakistani security officials said.

The incident took place near Angor Adda, a village in the tribal region of South Waziristan where U.S. commandos in helicopters raided a suspected al Qaeda and Taliban camp earlier this month.

"The U.S. choppers came into Pakistan by just 100 to 150 meters at Angor Adda. Even then our troops did not spare them, opened fire on them and they turned away," said one security official.

The U.S. and Pakistani military both denied that account, but Angor Adda villagers and officials supported it.

If operations are needed to be extended into Pakistan, this will require the full cooperation of the Pak. govt. If not, you are just going to piss off many more Muslims that for now are mostly moderate.

Now is not the time to be making more enemies - and if in seven years you cannot capture BL, maybe it is time to give up the chase/hunt.

Personally, if they did catch him the war would need to end just like catching SH yet the USA is still in Iraq? Why? All about Oil and nothing else.

All that changed from the 80's is that the USA has gone from covert to overt ops.

There is a big difference between rhetoric and action. And yes a previous post asked a good question. If the roles were reversed and the US shot at the Pakistani helicopters, the many if not most would blame the US for overreacting. As always for most it depends on political views.

TWO SIDES ADDING IT ALL UP! (END PART)

The (JSOC/CIA) Special Operations Forces Command / Central Intelligence Agent Senior Operative responsible for “Preparing the Battlefield Operations” and who’s authority supersedes that of the Commanding Generals in Afghanistan, and , the American ambassador in Islamabad is above the pay grade of Bryan Whitman, answering only to the office of the Imperial President of the United States Military Industrial Complex, and as such all missions are classified far beyond Bryan Whitman’s level.

TWO SIDES ADDING IT ALL UP! (PART ONE)

On Monday (14th) September the (JSOC) Began yet another incursion mission into Pakistan at boarder post – 27, who opened fire on the choppers, as the two Chinook Helicopters passed over the post and continued into Pakistan Territory a distance of (100km) to (150km) to Angor Adda, a village in the tribal region of South Waziristan. Pakistani boarder post (27) units members gave pursuit and with the aid of tribal residents who were awoken by the Chinooks flying in and landing returned fire coming from troops leaving the helicopters and ended the incursion foray causing it to be aborted. At the same time US armored vehicles were also seen moving on the Afghanistan side of the border, while US warplanes were seen overhead. Alerting tribesmen who also opened fire on the intruders.

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman and a (U.S.) military spokesman in Afghanistan said American helicopters had not come under fire. "I've checked into that and find it to be a spurious report, it did not happen. I've checked all the places that would know about something like that and it doesn't appear to be accurate.’ Another Pakistani security official said that US armored vehicles were also seen moving on the Afghan side of the border, while US warplanes were seen overhead.

Bush's half-assed effort in Pakistan will make it harder for a serious effort to be made.

The US needs to be careful attacking countries that actually have a working Military apparatus ... we have gotten too comfortable with the pushovers like Afghanistan and Iraq.

Good for Pakistan

The U.S. should stay out of places they are not invited.

I wonder if the Congress has approved the illegal invasion of yet another country?

Considering how many women and children die whenever US military aircraft appear, I cannot blame them for firing. I would do the same.

I am sure this will be greatly touted as a fear factor, although GWB ordered it done. This is all a part of revving up the dangers in the world so Americans will balk in apprehension and vote for MacWar.

Oh yea - you can bet Bush/Cheney and their criminal compadres have something in store to scare the hell out of Americans before the election - perhaps even another False Flag 9/11 event to "Postpone" the November election.

Heck, why does the US need a new President ? They already have a "Decider."

If we're not extremely careful, we're headed for the other side of Charlie Wilson's War. Our license to fight the Taliban in Pakistan expired when we failed to identify maliciously false intelligence and attacked a religious gathering filled with women and children. We can't pretend to have strategic options for unilateral op in Pakistan if we don't have reliable intelligence resources in the region.

You only get one chance to screw up, because the next news out of Pakistan could be that nine American Special Forces troops are being held prisoner in a cave in South Waziristan after being ambushed during a mission directed by false intelligence planted by the enemy. Then we're running out of options to avoid a full-scale war between nuclear powers, one of which has highly questionable command and control procedures and the other doesn't know anything it can't glean from satellite imaging or Reuters.

The blind leading the blind...

That no report can't find has been heard many times all resulting in cover ups.
You lie, you lose all credibility just like when you us torture but deplore the use.

Bush is trying to provoke Pakistan so he has a legitimate reason to forge into the mountains in a last ditch attempt to find Osama Bin Laden. From here on out, it's all about salvaging his legacy, hook or crook. And the crook part is all buttoned up.

Don't you remeber Bush's memorable tirade that he doesn't care about bin Laden. Remeber that "joke" when he was looking under his table for him?

Bush's ignoble legacy - WAR!
