NEW YORK — Meet Carrie Bradshaw, in her teenage years.

"Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell is writing a pair of teen novels, "The Carrie Diaries," that "takes readers back to Carrie Bradshaw's formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie's friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer," HarperCollins announced Wednesday.

The first book will come out in 2010. Bushnell, in a statement issued by her publisher, said, "Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd _ she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene."

Bushnell's adventures of Carrie and her Manhattan pals were adapted into the hit HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker and a feature film that came out this year. Her fifth novel, "One Fifth Avenue," is coming out this month.

I too am sick to death of the SATC girls. They used to be interesting, funny and real, but somewhere along the line they became pretentious, self involved bores.

I agree...create a new character and one not so "look at me, look at me!!" Now I actually watch Entourage to get what I used to get from SATC before they became women I couldn't stand to listen to.

I wish Ms. Bushnell would address the advertising for the new file called "The Women" -- they slam Sex and the City and I think it would be interesting to hear her thoughts on why one group of women are pitted against another group of women characters.

Ultimately, I did not like the way women were portrayed in either movie. The 1930's version of The Women was way better.

OMG enough with the Carrie. Write a new book. Create a new character.
