Crooks and Liars reports:

Can you say "fatwa?" The Grand Ayatollah of Iraqi Shiites, Sayyid Ali Husaini al-Sistani, has had his website hacked by system crackers identifying themselves as "Group XP" and replaced by a video clip of US comedian Bill Maher making fun of said website.

Awwww

I miss Rep. Tubbs Jones. Too bad we won't see her on Bill's show anymore. :(

Also, this is funny.

Back before 9/11, the MSM used to call hacking "cyberterror."

Sistani is a fool. He considers the game of chess an "abomination". The ancient cleric probably remembers the days, over a thousand years ago, when chess was played with dice as a gambling method.

Iraqi chessplayers face dire consequences from the rabid followers of this idiot. Iranians are better off, they recognize chess as a sport, and even, as noted in my OffTheBus post, relaxed rules regarding women to improve their performance.

Hopefully, Iraq will be liberated from this evil influence by Iranian efforts.

Eric. I have been going around and around and reading blogs for hours now, waiting for *my date* to pick me up. Never mind, *my date* is my daughter, and dinner has become a big icecream with a cherry on top later, or, maybe breakfast tomorrow. So, I do not remember where I read it, because besides all the various words and letters I am also crosseyed with hunger, but I did read it somewhere: Bush has a Russian Spy as one of his closest Advisers!! Could that be true? And who could that be? Maybe it is Condi Rice? Weird? Yeah, but eh, Iran is supporting terrorism, Hizbullah and Hamas as well as da Palestinians, and Syria. *They* are *saying things* about *Mickey Mouse* and Condi rice is disappointed that Israelis have still not been wiped off the map in the West Bank, and the rest of Israel. Her time is running out. Mahmood is a good buddy of hers, makes her smile a mile wide every time! Well, I do not know. A spy in Mr. Bush's inner circle, could it be true? And a Russian one? Let's let Bill Maher solve that one. He sees right through everything.

Eric:

While I cannot agree with Ayatollah Sistani's stance on the game of chess (it's just a game, so I don't see that it's worth getting worked up over) -- I cannot help but wonder at your statements that the Grand Ayatollah is a "fool" or an "idiot". Aside from your statement regarding the relative merits of Iran when it comes to chess-playing rights - - what exactly do you know about Iraqi Shiites, especially including Ayatollah Sistani and the Marja'iyah -- and where did you acquire this knowledge? Have you ever even been to Najaf (Sistani's home)? How about southern Iraq? Anywhere in Iraq?

Your comments reflect profound ignorance. Sistani is no fool. If you knew anything at all about Iraq, you would know this: Sistani has played a very important role (behind the scenes) in bringing down violence -- especially with regard to the Sadrists. Iran, on the other hand, has rarely played a constructive role here. This isn't propaganda or hyperbole. It's fact. All of which makes your comment -- about Iran liberating Iraq from this influence -- all the more puzzling.

I can't defend Sistani on the subject of chess. But to suggest he's a fool or an idiot says a lot more about your intelligence than it does about Sistani's.

Had to lower the volume when the farsi came out. Don't want a SWAT team breaking down my door and taking me to Guantanamo.

It is Arabic and very different from Farsi. They don't speak Farsi in Iraq!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:13 PM on 09/19/2008

The Shiites do

They speak Farsi at our embassy not arabic

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:53 PM on 09/19/2008

Yeah, Eric is just a little off today. Confuses Iran and Iraq, just like Mac. But Sistani is Iranian, so, likely he speaks Farsi. You think? And all *them* ayatollahs and Ahmadinejad, also Iranian. Nevertheless, you never know what those people in *them* long dresses are speaking, or anyone else in the ME. Just recently I heard of some Israelis, fluent in Arabic! Imagine that! And the SWAT team? They really do not like *them* *fureigners*. *you a fureigner, you get swatted every time*, I duhclare. Yes, you better not get into trouble TroubleNYC, so do not wear your long flannel nightgown where anyone can see it. More than that, do not even order a new flannel gown through email. Your email will go on the *watchit* list.

Welcome to MNmommy. Our very own decider on what's funny and what isn't. I always make sure that I double check to see if it's ok to have a chuckle.

Unfortunately I only get permission if it's something hilarious that Limbaugh or any of the clever repub comedians have to offer.

Hmmm, Group XP.

I get it - as we are depending on their command of the oil (controlled) substance, they are now dependent on the (controlled) access to Windows XP.

What was the expiration date of XP again ?

I can see them stewing over the question; "Who do you hate more; Maher or Bush?"

Wonder if they asked Maher's permission?

Me, I'd like to have known - 'cuz if that word fatwah comes out, I want to have the concealed weapon permit in advance.

Are you just as concerned about whether those hackers had Sarah Palin's permission to post her e-mails? or does privacy and constitutionally protected rights only apply to liberals?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:42 PM on 09/19/2008

I'd feel sorry for her if she wasn't trying to hide her communications, i.e. the work that the people of Alaska paid her to do. One of the reasons governments have official email is that it's not as easy for someone to hack into them. Her poor judgment on this matter is overlooked by her fans.
