Jamie Lynn Spears' Breast-Feeding Photos Trigger Criminal Probe

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ federal and local authorities are on the hunt for someone peddling 12 pics of Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn, daughter Maddie and baby daddy Casey Aldridge. One of the pictures shows Jamie Lynn breast feeding Maddie -- Jamie Lynn's left breast is exposed.

The pics were taken on Casey's digital camera. We're told he took the camera card to his local Wal-Mart in Louisiana for copies. Law enforcement believes someone at the Wal-Mart may have made extra copies, then tried selling them.

Because Jamie Lynn is a minor, selling the pics -- or buying them -- could constitute a violation of federal laws prohibiting pornography. Peddling pictures of a minor's breast -- even if not taken for sexual purposes -- could land the seller and the buyer in federal prison if they are marketed across state lines for the purpose of being lurid. Also, anyone purchasing the pics could be prosecuted for the crime of receiving stolen property.

Well as much as I support breast feeding (I am over 50 and still like it, and it seems good enough for Wall Street too! - LOL), what I still want to know is, if Jamie is a minor, why isn't daddy in jail?

The criminal aspect of this is absurd.

The fact that someone as wealthy as Spears shops at Wal-Mart is absurd

The fact that someone is trying to sell pics they don't own is absurd (course,t hey work at Wal-Mart, so obviously not the brightest bulb).

Maybe the pedophile angle is not the best way to react to this. Morality aside, it would generally be a good thing if all mothers, including young mothers, breastfed their infants.

A greater discussion of the issue would be valuable, and could be facilitated by a less horrified/sensational reaction to pictures like these. After all, the baby is there, Spears is her mom, and breastfeeding is completely natural.

For example, teen mothers who breastfeed might be at an elevated risk of developing osteoporosis, because it is the late teens and early twenties when the bones must "bulk up" with calcium. What precautions is Spears taking in this regard? Isn't this information that needs to be out there?

(That said, it was totally wrong to unlawfully take the pictures and publish them.)

first of all Britney has BROWN eyes, unless you saw her sporting blue contacts, and 2nd my sister has brown eyes, my mother had hazel, my father had brown and I had blue like my grandfather.... so yeah, you're probably the only one who thinks this is all strange (?)

This is moronic. Breast feeding is the most natural thing in the world and if you have gone so far as to get pregnant and are breast feeding, you are not really an innocent minor anymore. How able we focus time and effort on hunting down the real pedophiles that are actively harming children?

To be fair, sometimes it can be a pain getting good photos out of a home photo printer. If you spend enough money, it's not a problem, of course. One must take into account how often they need photos printed and whether a purchase of a good printer is worthwhile. Personally, I didn't find it to be, because I rarely need prints, so I take my photos to a store for printing. (Not Wal-Mart, though.)

On the other hand, if the pictures you need printed are of partially nude people, famous people, or both as in this case, taking your photos to a common store to be printed is a very bad idea. I'm sure that the Spears family has enough money to buy the best photo printers available and print their pictures at home. The best ones don't even require a computer to use them, just connect the camera directly or insert the memory card.

All of that aside, the Wal-Mart employees are pretty irresponsible. (No big surprise. We're talking about Wal-Mart. In my area, Wal-Mart is the trashiest store you can find.) The employees responsible for this breach of privacy should get a good, fair legal penalty for this.
