Clay Aiken Cradles Newborn Son On People Cover: "Yes, I'm Gay"

People hits newsstands on New York and LA on Wednesday, and their new cover is a doozy. American Idol alum Clay Aiken and newborn son Parker pose for their first photos AND Aiken officially comes out.

Parker Foster Aiken was born on August 8 in North Carolina to Aiken's good friend Jaymes Foster, 50. The pair met when Aiken was a contestant on American Idol.

He was in "Spamalot" on Broadway earlier this year and is back of of last week.

Aiken has long remained silent about his sexuality. While he has legions of female fans called Claymates, but has also been referred to for years as "The Gaiken" by Kathy Griffin and has been allegedly solicited gay sex online.

When the AP asked for a copy of the issue in advance, the magazine refused. The cover tagline is all we'll get till it's out.

I agree. I feel bad for the baby. Not to have a mother figure to teach him. I don't care if ppl think a man can teach a baby. Woman are naturally for that. Even though hes gay I don't think he has it in him to do a motherly duty. No wonder why my cousin was like clay all the time. My cousin is gay and I guess gay on gay he sensed it. OMG SMH.

the gay agenda is to live with the same possibilit­y for happiness that nongay people do.

From what I've seen, gay parents make great parents. From what I know, Aiken isn't a drug addict or anything, so I see no reason to think he'll be a bad parent.

Just my opinion.

Interestin­g phenomenon here.... Many of these same posters have been the ones saying, "Dude, just come out already or we'll hound you to your grave" & then when he does - & for a very valid, loving reason, I might add - those idiots can't come up with anything more profound than "Duh, like we didn't know this." I've read some great comments around the web about this & wrongly thought the Huff Post would provide some insight. My bad. Truth is, Clay is breaking ground in the cause of GLBT civil rights in 2 profound ways. First, I don't believe there has ever been another born-again Christian star to come out. Since there are many in the religious right in his fandom who already love him, his example could very possibly cause many of them to rethink their views on homosexual­ity, which could trickle down to others in middle America. Second, he is the very first single dad celebrity to come out, expecially with a newborn. Altho the baby's mother is his dearest friend & will be raising the child with him, his is a shining example that gay families can be just as normal as straight families. This is exactly what the gay community needs, & more like him, to drag this country out of the dark ages once & for all. Wow, you must have spent many a night tallying up which posters were writing what about Clay Aiken, keeping a detailed log, cross-refe­renced by date and frequency of posts. And then, for you to bring out your notebooks full of data, so you can check what these same posters are NOW saying, after Clay has officially "come out," gosh.....t­hat just shows a real commitment to the cause.

Clay is a born-again Christian, but also a liberal Democrat. We do exist, you know. And you may not care, but the gay community sure as hell does. He made a brave decision considerin­g how it could impact his fanbase, but teaching his child that it's OK to be who you are was more important. He should be commended for it.
