The Palin pick shouldn't have been so surprising. Everyone says "What was McCain thinking".

This is how arrived at the choice. First who is his biggest hero? Teddy Roosevelt. What was the name of his Party? The Bull Moose Party. Hence the pick. It made a lot of sense to him at the time.

Palin is Self-destructing!
The Obama Camp must be celebrating the Palin choice. Talk about self-destruction!
This is the classic case of picking a big fish in a small pond (which is frozen most of the year) and then introducing her to the Ocean.

Palin is clearly out of her depth.
She does not seem to have the ability to articulate anything remotely complex. However, she is very good at the continuous snide comments aimed at getting a laugh and avoiding the answers.

You could almost feel sorry for her. All ego and looks and not enough sense to quit while she is still standing.

Consider this, if by some remote chance McCain/Palin win and sometime later McCain keels over with a heart attack, then Ladies and Gentlemen, you could be looking at the next President of the United States! Shudder!

It's still not too late for McBush to make amends to his poor judgement by simply dumping the moose hunter and replace her with someone who can really step into the shoes of a president should the need arises. He will not be setting a precedent. It had happened before. McGovern replaced his runningmate. Nixon, infact, dumped his VP Spirow Agnew when it became apparant he was a big liability.

On the other hand, look at the price the presidential candidates paid at the poll when they remained stubborn and didn't heed to popular public opinion. When Geraldine Ferraro and her husband came under scrutiny for corrupt practices, Mondale refused to dump her. Consequence: He was trounced.

When Dan Quayle became a laughing stock, especially after his brush with TV character Murphy Brown, George Bush Senior should have replaced him. He didn't. Consequence: Newcomer Bill Clinton denied him a second term.

There is no shame, McCain. All it needs is a demonstration of leadership, and do the right thing. Because, the American people deserve the best and not not a second rate deal!!

Just watched this interview...McCain is in a whole heap of trouble. Katie is no super journalist but she came across as extremely polite and could have gone much further in embarrassing Palin. Biden commented earlier that Palin was a super debater but that was only to make him look good when he bashes her and makes it look so easy. The McCain strategy was flawed in selecting Palin and he will pay the price for it. The fallout from all of this unfortunately will play havoc on women in general...a Hillary she is not !!

Palin's answers confirmed that she is a bimbo. Only a bimbo would parade her very pregnant , unwed daughter and her lover onstage infront of America and perhaps the world . That was classless and without any form of dignity. A quickie marriage would have saved the day. What kind of example is this for the younger daughter.

What she does with (to) her family is not nearly as much of a concern for me as what she would do with (to) the nation were she to ever become president. The economic crisis that is hitting now is as much a result of failed policy and incompetence as it is of greed (which is, by the way, predictable, and is a primary reason that regulation was essential to protecting the economy). I don't care if her daughter got pregnant without being married--such things happen all the time; I do care that she has neither the background nor the foreground to lead the country, and yet she is trying to position herself to do just that. The fact that she seems to have no clue about the extent of her own limitations (unless she's just faking it) just adds gas to the fire. We've seen what happens when a know-nothing know-it-all holds so much of the well-being of the nation in his hands.

Do you think that Palin - true to her republican party protocol - underestimated Katie and thought that this was going to just be "girl talk"? It seems like she wasn't prepared at all and maybe let her guard down, too. She is not vp material.

No matter what Palin was or wasn't expecting, if she were fit for office she could have adapted to the situation immediately. The fact that she couldn't competently discuss national politics--neither domestic nor foreign policy issues--reveals that she's not competent for national leadership.

David Brooks said on the Charlie Rose show that he turned off the interview after 30 seconds because he's not a fan of "humiliation" humor (he used Borat as an example).

I love the image of Putin "rearing his head and coming into the airspace of the USA." She makes it sound like he's some kind of runaway inflatable float on Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

oh my god

America..........please please please don't do this to yourself

i swear to God the world will forgive and forget if you elect Obama......a so called peace offering to the world if you will

but if you elect these two i d i o t s you'll be on your own..........bush 2000 (stolen election but forgivable none the less) bush 2004......extremely disappointing.....but understandable considering the political climate.......McCain/Palin 2008.......no excuses....american will have chosen its path
