I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Another day, another chance to see Katie Couric trap Sarah Palin in a rhetorical bind. This time Couric called out Palin for making a joke about Joe Biden's age when her running mate, John McCain, is 72-years old. The best part is Palin's explanation that her joke meant Americans need change over experience, and that's what she represents in comparison to Joe Biden. Hmmm... Isn't that Barack Obama's line?

Katie Couric: You made a funny comment, you've said you have been listening to Joe Biden's speeches since you were in second grade.

Gov. Palin: It's been since like '72, yah.

Katie Couric: You have a 72-year-old running mate, is that kind of a risky thing to say, insinuating that Joe Biden's been around awhile?

Gov. Palin: Oh no, it's nothing negative at all. He's got a lot of experience and just stating the fact there, that we've been hearing his speeches for all these years. So he's got a tremendous amount of experience and, you know, I'm the new energy, the new face, the new ideas and he's got the experience based on many many years in the Senate and voters are gonna have a choice there of what it is that they want in these next four years.

Whether you are atheist or non-believers of God you judge other peoples faith when you are faithless. Perhaps the education you think you have mastered as mastered you. Palin is refreshing not corrupted like many people these days, maybe it’s her clean image, lovely family or Alaska that you despise. Maybe you should visit beautiful Alaska before you think you have the right to condemn it, living godlessly will do that to your soul. Isaac Newton was known to be more intelligent than Albert Einstein was and yet even through Newton was a great scholar is he known for his biblical studies and beliefs in God. Many young scientists still follow his teachings and principles to date. It is ignorant to elect any man for president in Obama’s case, did not vote on many issues as a junior senator when he did vote it is opposite to what he preaches and wants you to believe. Obama also claims he is a Christian a Christian doe not support abortions and same sex partners. We do not really know who Obama is he constantly changes his mind on major issues and tells people his carefully chosen words that inspire. Obama as no accomplishments. Obama is linked to Acorn voter Fraud; you would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to connect the dots, major other issues connected and linked to Obama. McCain and Palin for pro-life. Micah 1-7 and John 14:6.

I love the double standard that the McCain/Palin campaign employs...if Joe Biden had made a similar comment in reference to Sarah Palin, they would be crying foul. The outcry of "sexism", "mainstream media" bias or filters and "ganging up on her" would be heard in stump speeches and spin from GOP hacks.

The idea that Katie Couric is "bating" Sarah Palin is ludicrous...The best part of watching these interviews is watching the look on Katies face...she tries very, very hard not to just lose it on Palin!! *Sigh*

Its so incomprehensible and vapid that its funny as satire until you realize that Fey is repeating what Palin actually said (especially the parts about the Wall Street bailout, and the continuing farce about Alaska’s proximity to Russia) http://specialreport.com/saturday-night-live-palin-couric-video/

What speeches were those Gov. Palin? Can you name a few? Can you say what they were in regards? Deer in the headlights response.

Interesting...In addition to not being able to list any sources of news (NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Washington Times, LA Times, Seattle Times, Anchorage Daily News, Wasilla Frontiersman) or Supreme Court decisions (Brown v Board of Ed; Miranda - these should be no brainers), she obviously is slow with math. Deriding Joe Biden's age when he is 7 years McCain's junior is a tough one. It only accentuates McCain's age, something he is trying to get voters to ignore. And to further muddy the waters by suggesting that Biden's experience is a detriment when compared to her fresh ideas is laughable at best. Where does she get her ideas? I'd like to hear her name one original idea in a clear concise way that makes logical sense. I'm waiting......

Sarah: "I have new ideas" But all we here is... CRICKETS!!

Kind of like when Katie asked her, can you name a supreme court case other than Roe v Wade... Silence!
Or when Katie asked her to name what she reads... more SILENCE!!

Obama/Biden! They actually have answers & Solutions!!

Just watched another interview with Katie C. and Sarah P.
Woooooo. Wonder who Katie's going to vote for?
Sarah aught to resign. What was (and is McCain thinking?). She an embarrasment to this country. Also, one more time..... McCain is in his seventies and has multiple bouts with the big C. I cannot for the life of me understand why he would pick Sarah Palin as his running mate. I try to step back and see the bigger picture. My theory is that the Republicans already know they've lost this election. They are losing it deliberatly. Their idea is to dump all the garbage onto the Democrats- wrecked economy, two wars, horrible international relations.... all of that. Let the Democrats inherit it. They can't possibly fix all this stuff in four years. When 2012 rolls around they'll be able to blame the Dems. and get back into office. They're sly pusses!

(Doncha know ) (my friend), that when McCain lost to Bush in the primary in 2000 they promised him that this year it would be his turn? What they didn't realize is that the poor guy would be eight years older, and a little off his hockey stick. It "coulda" worked until they brought in the wicked witch of the North to really screw it up.

This comment is absolutely priceless and hilarious. Everything she is saying about Biden can be said about McCain. So exactly what is she saying here? If Biden is too old to be VP then McCain is obviously too old to be Prez.

Abortion laws could be rewritten to force rape and molestation victims to bear their rapist's child. Has she ever considered that rape victims might not want the entire world to know they were raped? If they don't tell the whole neighborhood, then everyone will think the victim had sex and is having a baby otuoutof wedlock. If there is no boyfriend around, they will think she is a slut, when in fact she was RAPED!

She's no spring chicken herself, at her age you would expect her to know a lot more that she does!

Looks very like an ageism attack!

Ms. Palin was raised Roman Catholic. There is a "charismatic movement" within Catholicism that has led many into mainline Protestant charismatic groups like the Assemblies of God. The commonality of views on abortion and homosexuality are the same in both churches. The difference is that the AG religionists want a Dominionist view where their beliefs are concerned. The buzz words in the AG world is theocracy, biblical supremacy as they solely can interpret it, and Armageddon and Rapture as an imminent reality. The AG clergy are notoriously anti-intellectual in training. These are "jackboot preachers" who unlike mainline churches who require both undergraduate and graduate degrees prior to ordination, are ordained without any necessary academic credentials.

Ms. Palin has a right to her views. She will not however have the opportunity to place her hand on the Constitution, and swear allegiance to HER bible , but the other way around. When I think about a Palin presidency due to a McCain death, I want to leave the nation the following minute. The Fourth Reich would be born.

I agree with your assessment of the AGs. My roommate in Seminary was Assemblies of God. He never bothered going to class and spent most of the day in his underwear, watching TBN to get ideas for sermons. Those sermons were essentially "Jeebus is coming back, like, real soon." This was a guy who only liked winners, because Christianity is only about winning. One of his personal heroes was G. Gordon Liddy because he proved how tough he was in prison by eating rats. This was also the guy who told us that to speak in tongues, you simply start mumbling; this was told to us after a night of drinking during which he also confessed to liking S&M. I was teetering on the edge at that point in my "walk with the Lord." In fact I had lost my faith about a year earlier but couldn't admit it to myself. In retrospect, however, I suppose I owe him a debt of gratitude: he was one of the people who convinced me that Christianity really is nothing more than a delusion.

Thanks for sharing that with us ! I am glad you got out with your mind principles intact ! I don't know if you're familiar with Bart Ehrman. He went through pretty much the same journey as you did, although he was on the "Born Again" track. After he found truth (over god), he went into teaching. He wrote a book called "Misquoting Jesus". Although some parts are repetitive, it's a worthwhile read in terms of understanding how much "human tinkering" has gone into making the modern bible what it is over the past several centuries. It's actually quite astounding that given what we know about the bible's history, anyone would be stupid enough to read it literally. In fact, only the stubbornly ignorant who refuse to inform themselves would be capable of doing so !

Oh, puleeezzzeee! I was raised in an Assemblies of God church, and you are SO WAY OFF on your view, it's just completely laughable! HA!

Where did I put that? I wrote something cogent and now I can't find it! Somebody else noted that the only reason she mentioned her second grade thing, aside from the fact that someone else wrote it, is because no one alive can verify it! Doesn't this sound just like the Republican SOP?

Its the same thing they do with pushing the 'Legal-Illegal' envelope...if something they did is absolutely amoral, rude, imprudent, nasty, BUT its LEGAL, you can look for them to do it, and the MSM will report it as fact!
