Florida GOP Holds Secret Crisis Meeting Over Obama's Rise In Polls

St. Petersburg Times:

Florida Republican leaders hastily convened a top secret meeting this week to grapple with Sen. John McCain's sagging performance in this must-win state.

Their fears were confirmed Wednesday when four new polls showed Sen. Barack Obama leading, a reversal from just a few weeks ago when McCain was opening up an advantage.

In a way Florida is one of the better bellweather states this year. If McCain is running behind in Florida it means that Obama is winning by big margins. If McCain is ahead just a little in Florida that means the race, in electoral votes over-all, is close.

Reason: if McCain is behind it means that he is disliked by his own constituency. Florida would not favor Obama on Obama's positives. Florida would only vote for Obama is they disliked McCain.

Nelson, a democratic Senator from Florida voted against the bail out twice in the Senate. That should have told McCain something. People here are older voters who don't fall so easily for the b.s. going on.

all of the o signs are disappearing and mcpalin signs are everywhere. my canvassing buddy last week said in 04 the kerry signs were being set afire, so much so that the local news interviewed her and showed the scorched lawns all throughout her neighborhood. last week, the last door we knocked on was an 87 yo registered dem and he nearly got violent with us when he saw our o t-shirts. but he was definitely the minority, thank goodness.

Beginning in October, the Army plans to station an active unit inside the United States for the first time to serve as an on-call federal response in times of emergency. The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent thirty-five of the last sixty months in Iraq, but now the unit is training for domestic operations. The unit will soon be under the day-to-day control of US Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command. The Army Times reports this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The paper says the Army unit may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The soldiers are learning to use so-called nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds.

They're trying to steal the election-again. But it won't work this time. Jeb isn't there to steal it or call Fox News to lie about a Repug winning, the GOP is clearly falling to pieces with their horrendous disorganization, and there are lawyers volunteering to make none of this nonsense goes on.
