It's so weird. I used to like John McCain as a person but now I really can't stand him. And it's a real shame because I respected his war record and all ot that stuff. His campaign has become nothing but smoke and mirrors. His second in command can't or won't answer questions at her one and only debate and his campaign has become so negative and he's become so angry that I think he's completely lost direction. Last year we had so many good candidates. So many good choices. But the dirty, greedy part of politics has clearly taken over.

I feel exactly the same way. I even voted for him back in the 2000 primaries (this was before George W. Bush turned me into a super-liberal haha) Looking back it makes me wonder what I saw in him.... if it was me who changed or if it was him. I hoped he and Obama would elevate the political conversation this year, but its clear he's only trying to pull Obama down to his level with dirty political tricks. It's kind of sad. At least it doesn't seem like the American people are falling for it this time.

That's the reason the Dems keep losing and will likely lose this one too. They still don't get it. The right wingers are known to be constantly on the attack, whine, complain and lie all the time. They do that to take advantage of the uninformed and ignorant. They understand that there are too many of them who could be manipulated. The Dems convinced themselves of this myth "the american people are smarter than that. They like to hear about the issues". No they're not smarter than that. They're stupider than that. and until you realize that, you will keep losing.

I agree with you!
It's a sad, sad, sad commentary of what this country has sunk to. It's kind of like waiting for a drunk to hit his bottom. We're on the road to becoming a second "Brazil from the seventies". I think some people in power know it already but are too cowed by an ignorant, arrogant and stubborn constituency to admit it or send up the red flags. Our government has failed us. After almost forty years of stating that we have to break our adiction to oil we are more hooked now than ever. The deficit is growing (as I read this morning) so fast that the deficit clock in NY cannot keep up anymore. It's only a matter of time before this causes inflation to ratchet up again. Ya, this gov. has failed us in the past and it looks like they are going to fail us in the future. The candidates really have to... have to be honest with us and tell us how this multi-trillion dollar deficit is going to impact their promises to the American public.
