Biden

While the presidential campaign has taken a decidedly personal and vicious tilt these past few days, one individual who has generally been left out of the fray has been Sen. Joe Biden. That's because the Delaware Democrat has been off the trail bereaving the loss of his mother-in-law to a heart attack.

As such an informal detente has been in place when it comes to attacking him. But on Tuesday, Sarah Palin broke the truce.

Speaking to a rabid crowd in Florida, the Alaska Governor was set to focus her ire primarily on Barack Obama. And, for the most part, she did, arguing that he was associated with domestic terrorists, tied to the heads of evil Fannie Mae and dangerously committed to hosting summits of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Then, however, she let loose. "Will [Obama] now claim that his ticket doesn't define higher taxes as patriotic? Remember that's what Joe Biden had said. Will he claim that he has just learned now that tax increases on small businesses kill jobs?"

Certainly the Biden dig was much softer than those aimed at the head of the ticket. But with the Senator having been off the trail for the past several days, Palin surely was aware of the elements behind his absence. Whether she slipped up or this was deliberate is another matter.

While the presidential campaign has taken a decidedly personal and vicious tilt these past few days, one individual who has generally been left out of the fray has been Sen. Joe Biden. That's because ...

I happen to think Joe Biden is right - its patriotic to pay taxes. We need to begin asserting this boldly, forthrightly and confidently.I am impressed with the high minded well heeled people I know who decry the inequity of their paying a lesser percentage of their income in taxes than their secretaries, mechanics, grass cutters, and our men in the military. Examples: Warren Buffet & Mayor Bloomberg. Let's openly say it is patriotic to willing accept the burden to share our productivity widely in society to advance the cause of a cleaner, safer, more equitable and just society. Isn't it patriotic to care about the welfare of the poor, of the uninsured and the uneducated? Isn't it patriotic to care about the advancement of the American Community as a whole towards a greater level of common prosperity? Come on: we who support universal health care do not expect to get it for nothing, or on the financial backs of the doctors. We accept the upper middle income brackets will pay more taxes to insure that our fellow americans - some 43 million of whom are uninsured at this time - have access to good healthcare and there children can be as healthy as possible. We can also afford to be taxed enough to provide decent education to all children. Only two bit dictatorships and third world countries have effective tax rates lower than ours. The Office of the Budget recently revealed that only 20% of corporations pay any taxes.

I was taught that no one likes taxes, but we all need the stuff they pay for. I guess that makes it patriotic to pay taxes. Add me to the list.

Bumper Sticker: Pay your taxes, It's Patriotic.
or Pay your Taxes, It's American.

Lets ask Gov. Palin some questions pertinent to who she is; Ohhh like, "What does it feel like to fall like lightning from heaven to Earth?...

This is yet another example of her unsuitability for the position and McCain's poor evaluation and decision-making prowess. This was a really poor choice. Having her stir up the rabid element and then to to refer to his senate colleague as "That One" is truly uncommendable, at best, and disqualifying at the worst, for him.

Sarah Palin's behavior is beyond contempt and defines only her and her running mate. They (the McCain Campaign) won't stop until they incite some kind of riot. and/or lose the Presidency...27 more days and these pathetic people will be out of our lives. They are best ignored...and are a sad commentary on current political campaigns.

She is the type person who give Christians a bad name.

Sarah is getting more and more restless, wanting to break away from the shackles that bind her TO McCain and FROM the public. She IS falling in love with her OWN IMAGE. I expect that we haven't seen the last of her, when Obama wins, she will resurface in Washington as Senator.

I'll be glad when this election is over and she is shipped back into the cold where she belongs. She has been programmed to attack and she does a good job at it. I cannot understand, with her being a christian why she continually tells the lies and get people all worked up. I think she is unamerican, this is a political process, not street fighting. Sarah, did you forget the 9th commandment? Jesus was about love not hate. If you had a christian witness, you just blew it.

Maybe not the best time to be critical, but there is never a good time to be critical of a candidates children and there has been plenty of that to go around for Palin. I try to read here to get another veiwpoint and to see if maybe I am wrong for leaning Republican but the more postings I read here it is very scary how you people think.

The difference is that Obama/Biden and their campaign staff, are not the ones attacking Palin's children. McCain, Palin and their staff have attacked Obama's family and are now implying that others should hate and even do physical harm to Obama. Do not confuse the acts of individual bloggers with the views of the candidates.

Just a point. Those of us posting on the blogs may not have been kind to the children in this campaign and for that we owe apologies to them. Here's a big "but" At no time did either Obama or Biden say anything other then "Families are off limits". In this case it was a member of the ticket who directly attacked her opponent at a time that the most insensitive would hold their fire. She could even have gone with "there are alot of things I could say about Joe, but lets pass on that today. He's at his mother-in-law's funeral. Pray for her." Far more effective and paints her as a compassionate person.

McCain and Palin have No Heart (or they share one heart?). Was McCain's "Hair Plugs/Health Insurance" statement meant to be a Snide remark referencing Sen. Biden???

Also, did anyone else hear during yesterday's presidential debate when McCan't sited as an example of needing health care, "someone you gets hair plugs"? Another slam directed against Biden. I'm wondering if Biden is still going to state publicly that "McCan't is my good friend"....still? Sure, Biden talks openly about hair plugs but that's not the point. McCan't figured he'd put in a shot no matter what Biden's family circumstances are.

McCain makes a lame joke about hair plugs when millions of people are dying from cancer, AIDS, and Alzheimers disease and have NO DECENT HEALTH INSURANCE!

As to Palin's behavior in this context, Cheney would respond "So?"

She had important priorities, such as all but calling Obama a terrorist sympathizer with a secret agenda. The Lee county Florida sheriff in uniform and complete with shiny, shaved head, introduced her and commented that Barak HUSSEIN Obama would wonder what happened after the election thanks to Sarah. So, we had none other than a openly biased peace officer participating in the throng favoring Palin. The crowd cheered him, and he turned around and surveyed the crowd, nodding his head in gratitude. This guy was shown on nationwide television, adding to the embarrassment Florida has continued to suffer in its politics since 2000.

In the course of her outrageously inflammatory remarks, t he cries of "traitor" and "kill him" from the crowd seemed not to alarm her. Her smiles and giddiness and winking continued as though she were happy to get the lunatics in the crowd whipped up.

I suspect that one day after McBush is defeated, she'll wind up with the Fox Newsfixers. Her shreiking offensive voice will fit well with those of the current crop of female propagandists over there. However, it may turn out that she'll have to become a blonde as a job requirement.

I have asked this question several times and no answer.

Is a sheriff allowed to participate in a political rally as a platform guest in uniform
(an obvious biased rally)

The person who shouted " kill him" was given authority by the sheriff by his mere presence
of his uniform.

With or without lipstick.

To really know Gov Palin, check her out with her own neighbors.
Alaska based online publication tells it all.

www.mudflats.wordpress.com

All about Troopergate and the folks who've now decided to cooperate with the subpoenas

About how Palin allegedly went after Officer Wooten's workmen's compensation -- Todd the Toad allegedly followed him everywhere with a camera hoping to show he did not have a back injury -- reported that he got on the job while pulling a dead body from a car on ice.

And lots more.

Please give them a tiny donation if you can. They're doing a great public service.
Another vet for Obama/Biden

I don't think this is THAT big of a deal. I do think it is in bad taste however. Let the man grieve his mother-in-law's death w/out you attacking him...even if it IS about policy or whatever. You can take a day off of Biden...she should've only attacked Obama.
