Palin Drops Ayers Reference From Stump Speech

Talking Points Memo:

After attacking Barack Obama's association with William Ayers for several days running, including yesterday, Sarah Palin made no mention of Ayers in her speech at a joint appearance with McCain in Pennsylvania that ended moments ago. Neither did McCain.

The missing Ayers reference suggest that the Ayers attacks may have backfired, and that the Obama campaign's counter-attack -- that the McCain team wants to use slimy negative attacks to distract from a discussion from the economy -- may have been effective.

These candidates are both in office with clean background checks. So I can only assume these are just smears on both parts. BOTH parties were tangled with Dirt..BOTH­. The difference is that Obama's affiliation is now a professor at a state college and McCain's affiliation is in jail. INDEPENDENT VOTER PA.

Obama was the youngest terrorist on earth if they are seriously trying to make American voters believe he was associated with Ayers and the Weathermen. Let's not gloss over another important fact...40 years ago a lot of Americans were sympathetic to the Weathermen. Some felt they were serving a necessary evil in defense of American justice and progress. But to suggest an 8 year old Obama was one of them is far fetched.

I must be naive. I honestly thought that the hateful sentiment coming from some of these McCain / Palin crowds had largely disappeared from our society. I guess it was only lying beneath the surface, This kind of racial innuendo and incendiary rhetoric is what one might expect to hear at a white supremist rally.

Exactly - it's outrageously disturbing and discouraging that so many of these lunatics still exist, yet maybe a good thing for us to know exactly what kind of filth we are dealing with - ? You can't fight a disease unless you fully understand the diagnosis. For the sake of Alaska, I sure hope Alaskan Supreme Court does not cover-up the investigation and the Legislature will release the report as planned Friday October 10!

If they cover-up the report there will be a major reaction from both Alaska and All Americans!

It's clear that the first step in theMcCain negative campaign backfired on them. All it does is make Obama numbers go up faster. Another thing is about to happen to sister Sarah. The Troopergate investigation report will be presented to the legislature on Friday. Soon after, the information will get to the public and what comes out of that will take down Sarah's shooting star. Whether there are impeachment proceedings and/or a recall effort is not that important. The info that will be released will be very damaging to sister Sarah and her ability to carry on a campaign..

HRC did it in a less obnoxious way and we should thank her - things like that coming out during the primaries make it irrelevant now so people can look past the distractions to the actual stand BO takes on the issues and see he is the better candidate for president. Those of us on this site were able to look past it anyway but there are a lot of Americans who are let us say not as aware.

McCain is the CEO of the campaign. He therefore is in charge of directing how his campaign is run. If he says no, and if Sarah goes out on her own to stump and brings it up again -- it falls back to McCain. He can't play the "I wasn't aware" card. It reflects back on him. If she goes back to stumping it, shows McCain has no leadership abilities as he can't control his campaign -- how can he control in the White House. NOT.

This has also made mud of his side kick. Nobody else will work with her after their loss. She won't be back in Washington. She won't be in politics after the Alaskan Governor election in 2010. She's too dirty. She carries to much baggage from the getgo i.e. investigations up the ying-yang. For someone so new to politics at state level -- she's sure drummed up a hornets nest for herself.
