Paulson: Emerging Markets Not Immune From Turmoil

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said on Saturday that emerging market countries are not immune to the most serious global economic risks in recent memory and must be careful in their policy choices.

In prepared remarks before the International Monetary Fund's steering committee, Paulson also urged the IMF to stay focused on its core missions, including currency surveillance and helping low-income countries avoid a return to debt distress.

After being part of the club which caused this mess Paulson first comes up an ineffective bad debt buying plan, which now after the meeting with the G7 will finally be revised in taking direct stakes for recapitalization. Ideologically pure he simply let banks fail causing the credit crises. Britain, Benelux, Russia, Germany have already taken action. But Paulson is still looking for ways to defend the interests of the shareholder and management while the taxpayer has to foot the bill. Read the end of
