In an interview with Chris Matthews on Hardball, Joe Biden warned that McCain may ultimately regret the very harsh tenor of his current campaign:

Sen. Joe Biden said Monday that the tenor of the presidential campaign has gone "over the edge" and that if John McCain continues to push some lines of attack against Barack Obama he may regret it "for the rest of his life."

Talking about recent charges leveled against Obama on MSNBC's "Hardball," Biden said, "I just think it's unhealthy, you don't throw race [and] terrorism" into the presidential campaign. "That's a combustible mix in an environment where people are angry."

"It's not a useful time to be running an ad that says the guy consorts with terrorists," Biden said.

He will be an effective attack dog
against the Republicans. But what we call him is "Senator Plastic,"
because he is the champion of the credit card industry. MBNA is in
Delaware. It"s a huge credit card company. It"s given more than $200,000
to Joe Biden over his career. And he championed, almost shamelessly, the
anti-consumer bankruptcy law that his fellow colleague, Senator Chris
Dodd, who"s the chair of the Senate Banking Committee, called, quote, "the
worst bill ever," end-quote.

Come on, we all know Mc Cains character. He is the only POW that claims to be a hero as a result of being a POW. There were over 600 POWs and not one claims to be a hero. Most POW feel that they served their country and they have no more standing that anyother patriot of war.

I wonder about McCain's daughter, Bridget. Is she trusting enough to believe her father's campaign is not propagating racial smears? Is she cynicallly inclined to just accept it as something he has to do? I would sure like to hear from her in a few years, when she reaches her majority. Maybe she will feel free tospeak. Or maybe she will just feel so lucky to have been adopted that she just accepts whatever happens or just keeps quiet. I really would like to hear her take on this.

I don't know much about McCain's family, or that he has an adopted child; and I'm not sure what that has to do with this article. However, your statement "maybe she will just feel so lucky to have been adopted" is insulting. Unfortunately it illustrates the ignorace of those not involved with adoption. As an adult adoptee (with four kids, and three granddaughters of my own) who has great parents, I'm here to tell you that although I NOW know my life was better by being adopted, at no time in my life have I ever felt "lucky"
As a teenager I felt anguish over knowing my biological mother gave me up, and not even knowing why. As an adult I have felt cheated at not knowing my heritage, and not having family medical history, not only for myself but for my children. And as a partially reunited adoptee, even now I have felt some sadness at knowing that I was the only child given up by my biological mother, even though I know that she was at one time married to the father's of my two half siblings but had no support network (and was single) when I was born.
My life is good, and pretty much has been. But "lucky for being adopted" is not a thought that has ever entered my mind.

McCain has said he would rather lose an election than lose a war. It seems to me he would rather start a war than lose an election.

If something happens to Senator Obama or his family, it will be on McCain's head.

No it won't. That's a silly thing to say. To paraphrase Neil Simon, that sounds like the curse of the Cat People.

Ah actually yes it would. Sort of like yelling fire in a crowded building, or inciting a riot. You have the freedom to say what you choose, but that does not free you from the responsibility when those words influence actions.

I agree - McCain is responsible for the race-baiting and smearing he has set in motion regardless of whether he is personally a racist. His supporters are low intelligence. Once he started this, it's on his head.

I dont know about you all, but McPalin seems to fit the definition of TERRORIST more then Barak. It is their campaigns goal to frighten others in regards to Obama...

Sean Hannity is mentioned below and I want to let you know that the Ford Motor Company and Ford local dealerships are advertising on his Fox News program. The AFL-CIO is supporting Barack Obama for President in Michigan and nationwide. Please join me in contacting their Michigan offices and local dealers to divest.

GREAT idea USA1776!!!,

I for one will do as you suggest. I am ALL FOR freedom of speech, in our country, but feel the need to no longer be silent, when hearing hate filled, racist, or incendiary remarks.

Hannity, who is so proud of his "exclusive interviews with McCain and Palin", would never admit that them following his directive and starting to attacking Obama (using his exact phrases) had in any way hurt their chances to be elected. He is so certain that he has the audience and power to influence the future of our country. He certainly influenced this election... almost certainly being one of the biggest of forces in inssuring that McCain is defeated.

As I said below, I urge everyone to visit the Hannity website and go to his site's Forums (Washington Politics) and see for yourself the type of people that Hannity "associates" with. Sadly McCain followed Hannity's advice and himself courted the people who make up his audiences and frequent his Forums.

McCain's dad and grandfather retired as admirals. McCain himself retired a captain. That should say something about McCain's aptitude for strategy.

Yes and George W. Bush served in the Texas Air National Guard's "Champagne Unit" created expressly for the purpose of allowing rich kids to get out of serving in Nam and couldn't even accomplish that service competently. McCain was a rich kid himself and wouldn't have been a pilot without that pull. His record was pretty poor. That was his "strategy." Let Dad smooth the way.

Promotion eluded Senator McCain -- he was considered rash and temperamental. In spite of his commendations, he was never given a sea command.

Certainly, McCain is facing the fact that he will not be able to surpass his father/grandfather's professional success. But, I believe he could affect his place in the political pantheon simply by conceding this election. If you agree, go to www.johnmccain.com and suggest something similar to what I have offered:

"With all due respect, Senator, if you are concerned with your political legacy, I urge you to consider conceding this election to your opponent. The public financial resources that are yet to be expended during the conclusion of this campaign would be better directed toward the resolution of our country's financial crisis. Your concession would clearly demonstrate that you value country more than party - a radical change from politics as usual."

Dream on or rather hallucinate on. It is still a matter for the voting public to choose a president, not a blog or blogger. You'll either have your dream man or your nightmare on Nov. 5th. Either way I suspect you won't be happy for long.

Thanks for your input, Paris! No, I don't expect McBraindead to capitulate (he has neither integrity or honor - he is just another right wing silver spoon who has never earned his way), nor that his supporters like you are capable of divining between capable governance or gullible partisan bullsh-t. While it's true that I might likely be disappointed in the Obama presidency, there's no doubt that I will be very happy that a poseur like McCain will no longer be cluttering up the capital.

Disappointed or not, I'm looking forward to watching the Dems dismantle the entire Ronnie Raygun apparatus.

I understand Argentina still welcomes those of the fascist persuasion. Hable Espanol?

McCain is such a sad man. He should regret what he's done from the time he picked Rove's cronies to be his campaign advisors. It's clear he sold his soul to the devil to win at all costs.

What I hope Senator McCain comes to regret MOST is aligning himself with and taking advice about starting the Obama attacks, from Sean Hannity.

While being interviewed by Hannity, on Fox's Hannity and Colmes program, Hannity implored McCain and Palin to begin attacking Obama on his "associations with an UNREPENTANT TERRORIST", Rev. Wright, and several other issues. They both promised Hannity that they would do that.

The VERY NEXT DAY both McCain, Palin, and any McCain campaign staffer being interviewed began attacking Obama, sometimes with the EXACT wording that Hannity uses, hundreds of times per week. The results of these attacks were vile audience outbursts at their campaign stops, and an immediate and large drop in the polls.

I URGE everyone who has not done so to go to the Sean Hannity website and visit his Forums there, in particular the "Washington Politics" topic. Here you will find the people who Hannity ASSOCIATES with. Almost NEVER are even the most vile, venemous, and racially tinged posts deleted, by the moderators, which I think speaks volumes about Mr. Hannity, who encourages thinking and statements like these through his own daily hate and intolerance filled conversations on his TV and radio shows.

It's a VERY SAD day when a candidates for the top two offices in our country begin a "Dance with the Devil" and heed his advice. Having done so, will be an act Sen. McCain and the Republican party will hoefully regreat for a LONG time!
