Technical Difficulties Black Out Baseball Playoffs On TBS, Football On CBS

Viewers of two sporting events witnessed the fragility of live television over the weekend.

On Saturday, the cable channel TBS was unable to broadcast the first 20 minutes of Game 6 of baseball's American League Championship Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays because of technical difficulties. In its place, TBS put on an episode of "The Steve Harvey Show." Although the announcer told viewers that they "hadn't missed much" when the signal was restored, fans had missed the first home run by the Tampa Bay Rays.

On Sunday, CBS viewers in the Northeast and on the West Coast missed portions of the football game between the Buffalo Bills and the San Diego Chargers as a result of power disruptions at the stadium in Buffalo.
