Colin Powell On "Meet The Press": Ratings Highest Since 2004

NEW YORK -- Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama on "Meet the Press" gave the Sunday chatfest its best ratings for a political interview since 2004.

"Meet the Press" averaged 6 million viewers for its Sunday morning airing, Nielsen Media Research said Thursday. It was the best the show has done since Feb. 8, 2004, when then-host Tim Russert interviewed President George W. Bush.

Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama was well worth the watch. I was a habitual viewer of Meet The Press when Tim Russert was there. These days, having taken full note of the fact that Brokaw is in McCain's pocket, I steer clear of MTP. I watched only when it was announced that Powell would be on the menu. I avoid Brokaw and will continue to do so until he is replaced by someone who can, at least, appear to be bi-partison and return MTP to a modicum of its former standing.

I watched every MTP when Tim was the host. Tom Brokaw needs to go back to being a prompter reader. He is awful on MTP. This was one of the few MTPs I've watched since Tim died.

Never missed MTP when Tim was host. It's the first time I've watched since then - and only because of Powell's endorsement. Brokaw should go away. Give Meet the Press to Maddow or Matthews.

With McCain finally going on this weekend after his one sided feud they might get another record view but the problem with that it is one more place for the fence sitter to hear the amazing amounts of lies to come out of McCains mouth. It doesn't make me happy to see him agree to do this as it gives him way too much exposure at a time when his crazed attempts have done little. My hope is he fails to show himself as sane.
