New MoveOn Ad Follows Palin On Campaign Trail

This week, a reminder of Alaska is following Sarah Palin on the campaign trail.

A talking moose is the star of MoveOn.org's new TV ad, which will run in Iowa today and Friday in Des Moines and Sioux City, where Palin is scheduled to hold rallies. The ad ran yesterday in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Dayton, where Palin was campaigning in Ohio.

The moose, stuffed and mounted over a fireplace alongside a number of other stuffed trophy heads, questions McCain's judgment in picking Palin as his running mate:

"McCain is 72 and she could end up in charge. She may be a little trigger-happy. I should know."

And if you think the presentation is too light to impact voters, guess again. The Democratic firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner tested the ad and found that, "In terms of objective persuasiveness, moving voters on an electoral measure, this ad produced more momentum against McCain than any ad we have tested over the last two weeks."

The spot was directed by Jonathan Cranin, who created the famous "Priceless" ads for Mastercard and the E*Trade ads featuring a stock-buying baby.
