"Greenwash Brigade" Addresses The Benefits Of Coal

Greenwash Brigade:

Holy crap. Is the onslaught of "clean coal" internet ads driving anyone else nuts? You can't open a news website without being subjected to greenwash about the benefits of coal. "It's what powers America." No duh! Coal is responsible for a majority of carbon emissions. That's the problem! It's like touting grain alcohol as a cure to alcoholism.

Talk about lipstick on a pig. "Clean Coal" is apparently an oxymoron that both party's candidates can support. Saying it's clean doesn't make it clean. Come on Barack, come on John. Can one of you show some leadership on this issue and stop parroting the coal industry's coal-is-great message? Coal mining is an environmental disaster and coal burning is a climate change disaster.

I've been writing for a decade now about the Coal Seam Fires burning out of control in China which creates as much CO2 as all the cars and lite trucks in the entire United States and is a primary source of heat in the environment and also the pollution in California­..

They can now be seen from space with the naked eye..!

What does that have to do with carbon sequestration?

And anyway, what do you propose to do about extinguishing uncontrollable underground mine fires? Should we also work on plugging up volcanos that produce CO2? There's similar fires in Centralia in central PA and we can't stop those. Even if they were man-made, there's probably not much we can do about it now. China wouldn't just let coal be wasted for no reason.

The technology to put out these fires now finally exists..

Also FYI Coal fires burn produces CARBON..!!­!!

They can pump in a foam product that puts out these fires into the crevasses and mine shafts that are so bad they can be seen by the naked eye from Space, and if China did this it would equal cutting the CO2 of all American cars and light trucks by 50% which is huge and not in any other manner in the foreseeable future..no­t to mention the heat they generate and produce..w­arming the atmosphere and climate..!

Also these fires serve no purpose they smelt no steel heat no home just a waste of a vast natural resource..­!
