Palin Prank Call: Canadian Comedy Duo Convinces Palin She's Talking To Sarkozy (AUDIO)

The AP reports that a Quebec comedy duo, posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy, have successfully prank called Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin has unwittingly taken a prank call from a Canadian comedian posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and told him she may make a good president in eight years.

The Republican vice presidential nominee discussed politics, the perils of hunting with Vice President Dick Cheney, and Sarkozy's "beautiful wife," in the telephone call released Saturday.

When the caller told Palin she would make a good president, she laughed and replied: "Maybe in eight years."

The Palin campaign issued a statement in response.

"Governor Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy and other celebrities, in being targeted by these pranksters. C'est la vie," she said.

What amazed me is that she didn't know that Sarkozy does not speak English. That was the dead give away. If she had an ounce of foreign relations expertise she would have known this fact.

Yes, it was as funny as it was embarassing. One of the pranksters stated in an interview that no one in the Palin entourage seemed to know that Sarcozy is Prez of France! How could Palin possibly believe that she should be talking with the Pres. of France without first consulting with McCaned? She was like a weasle sleezing behind her bosses back. "What is in this for me?".
On the other side of the medal: Sarcozy? It could not have happened to a more deserving public figure: the man is the anti Obama. Sarcozy is hotheaded, crass, macho, arrogant, sexist, and petty. He also likes to stick his nose in other countries' politics as he did while in Canada a few weeks ago. This was certainly in the back of the comedians' mind as they lampooned him.

A phony French accent???? It wasn't 'phony' ... those guys DO speak French and when they speak English, they DO have a French accent. So it's not phony.

Those of you who think you could tell the difference between a French person from France speaking English, and a French person from Canada speaking English, are being silly.


The accent is different when they both speak FRENCH, just like USA accent is different than the British accent, when they speak ENGLISH.

Well, "Canadian" may be their nationality, but many of them view themselves as Québécois first. Many Québécois only consider themselves Canadian when it suits their purpose (like getting cheques from the federal government).

And just to confuse matters, not all French-speaking Canadians are Québécois. Some are Acadian or Métis.
