GOP Rep. Tried To Prove Bill Ayers Wrote Obama's Memoir

The Republicans have made a last-minute attempt to prevent Barack Obama's ascent to the White House by trying to recruit an Oxford academic to "prove" that his autobiography was ghostwritten by a former terrorist. ...

Dr Peter Millican, a philosophy don at Hertford College, Oxford, has devised a computer software program that can detect when works are by the same author by comparing favourite words and phrases. ...

The offer to Millican to prove that Ayers wrote Obama's book was made by Robert Fox, a California businessman and brother-in-law of Chris Cannon, a Republican congressman from Utah. He hoped to corroborate a theory advanced by Jack Cashill, an American writer.

Fox and Cannon each suggested to The Sunday Times that the other had taken the initiative.

As a Utahn, I would like to apologize to everyone for Chris Cannon. It's a real nutcase, and it pains me that he represented this beautiful state in Congress for several terms (thankfully he never represented a district in which I lived). He was defeated in the primary elections, and won't be back again (thankfully). I'm just sorry that we inflicted him on the nation and its political workings.

You know, I really think that perhaps republicans spread fear because they themselves are consumed by it. They're afraid of change. They're afraid of trying anything new even when everything old is destroying them along with everyone else. Remember that research that came out several weeks ago about the basic difference in genetic make up between most democrats and most republicans? The difference lent itself to a higher level of fear. Fear that they won't have enough---money, cars, houses, stuff. Fear that if they don't kill people in other places first that those people will kill them. Fear that if they don't make other people do whatever their own religion calls for that the wrath of God Himself will befall them. Here's a quote from "The Course In Miracles":
"There is only love and fear and only love is real." The worst of the ideologues must be stopped, but democrats do seem to have a greater supply of love for other people. Perhaps we should consider praying for the people in our own country who are consumed with fear that they might experience more love-----and maybe we could make our country and our world a nicer place to live if we let the love for republicans begin with us. Just a healing thought for the day. I think it's what Obama's been trying to get across to us.
