I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Bob Shrum threw former Democratic VP candidates under the bus on Tuesday when he said he wishes Democrats had run with Biden as VP in 2000 and 2004. Appearing on MSNBC with Republican strategist Mike Murphy, host Andrea Mitchell asked if the Biden pick was a mistake for Obama. Murphy likes Biden and thinks it neither hurts or help, then Shrum said how he helped with Catholics and in Pennsylvania, adding, "I wish we'd run with him in 2000 or 2004."

Shrum helped run the campaigns of Al Gore and John Kerry (VP candidates Joe Lieberman and John Edwards)

Kerry and Gore both backed Biden for Obama's choice of VP. A big reason was Biden's loyalty. As they felt alone too often on the campaign trail, fighting off constant attacks from Bush and company. Biden comes with an extensive background and leadership in the Senate, Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees, and can be downright firey in his delivery and support of people he respects. Many tout Biden's raw honesty, intelligence and integrity. He's a good man and someone you want on your side. Could he have given Cheney a run for his money...da#n straight! Biden does not care for BS, and has correctly stated Cheney is the worst vice president in the history of the U.S. I love Joe Biden's passion...I love that he's got Barack Obama's back.

Shrum is one of my favorites for many years. This guy can get as excited as I do about something said on Cable, only the difference is that he is on cable. As usual, I agree with Shrum and I think that Biden, like Dodd and few others, represent the backbone of the Democratic Party during the years when Dems were not that strong. I hope that Obama leans on Biden. If he lets Biden in on daily briefs, this country will be much better off.

Revisionist history. Given the mood of the public and the (still effective) nasty campains run by Bush. This is absolutely irrelevent speculation. Admit it, the last 8 years were self induced misery.

I never understood that Lieberman choice... neither did Gore, LOL

OMG. Can you imagine a Biden-Cheney debate instead of a Lieberman-Cheney one.

I gotta think if Biden would have been with Gore in 2006 Democrats wouldn't have given up. Biden would have kicked some sand and demanded toughness. I don't always agree with Biden but I've liked him for more then 25 years.

Obama chose the guy he wanted, not the person he was told to pick. He went with his gut rather than with some kind of poll.

You make your choice and you live with it. Gore, Kerry and McCain have learned that the hard way.

Nothing against Edwards, but he and Kerry were not a good match.

Shrum is the Matt Millen of politics. The MSM taking his opinion seriously is further proof to me that cable tv would be a waste of my money. Shrum's firm made millions off the Kerry campaign; now he says Biden would have been a better candidate. Priceless. Too bad the tv host didn't come back with, "yeah Bob, and maybe Kerry and Gore would have been better off with Axelrod."

One of the reasons Obama is winning is because Shrum is NOT part of Obama’s campaign team.

The problem with the Dems for the past two cycles has been the top of the ticket entirely.

iRobot Gore and mannequin Kerry couldn't be saved by anyone.

Now would Biden have been a better top of the ticket candidate back then? Man up Shrum! That would be saying something ballsy...and maybe right too.

Joe Biden is a man stepped out of a more swashbuckling and gentle time than this one. May his genetic code be passed on to many future generations. He is a real man. We ladies love him.

I agree 100%... TOTALLY smitten by Joe The Biden.. and I am a young African-Canadian female. Not enough coverage of him post-election.

Another polestic.ker trying to get face time. These so called pundits need to crawl back under the rocks they have slithered from out under. Who listens to these people? They come off like they know it all and know nothing. When you take a look at the backgrounds these people are !diots.

why is it when someone gives an honest opinion, it's "throwing (fill in the blank here) under the bus??

he's absolutely right about Biden being better than lieberman. look at what lie berman turned out to be, for pete's sake... a pseudo-liberal political opportunist of the worst kind.

And Edwards, aside from his unfortunate personal situation, just didn't have the right stuff.

Biden is fiery, principled and in touch. Just the right type of VP for President Obama.
