Pundits and pollsters may be trying to take all the fun out of Election Day. So many have predicted a lopsided victory for Senator Barack Obama over Senator John McCain that you might wonder why even to bother watching the returns on Tuesday night.

Check out a slideshow guide of highlights to watch for on Tuesday... adapted from The NY Times...

Just got back from my second round of transporting folks back and forth to the polls. For the moment I'm in Memphis, Tennessee so I'm not exactly in a swing state, but the poll workers said there is *overwhelming* support for Barack Obama!

To the entire Huffpost community:

At the moment, the exit polling does not look particularly great for either candidate. By tomorrow, half of the nation's population still won't get what it wants but at some point we all must come together as Americans and at least be thankful for what we already have.

Each of us should take heart that we live in the greatest nation the world has ever known. This nation has thus far served the world as a force for good despite its faults and it will continue to do so even after tomorrow.

To be sure, no candidate is perfect but that seems to fit well with our society and our nation because neither of these is perfect either. Our saving grace then is that each of us, as Americans, still wants what's right for everyone, wherever one lives. I believe each candidate believes that too and I can live with that. I can only hope that each of you believes that too.

It is my heartfelt wish then that as a nation we elect a candidate to the White House that we all can be proud of. I know that this election has set people on edge but I really would like to express my best wishes to each of you that we each get an electorate that will serve us well.

Please be safe tonight, and may the best man win.

RSU

A (true) story for you while you are waiting for the polls to close.

My wife's father (age 84) hates Rush and is total Obama. He lives in red neck-land in Eastern Washington State. Several weeks ago he had a stroke. After several days and the election closing, his daughter asked him who he was going to vote for. Something like "rebubican" came out. We were all shocked. The stroke had really affected him. "See", his daughter said. "This is what happens when you have a stroke. You vote Republican."

In the ensuing days his mind returned and he expressed he wanted to vote for Obama again. Unfortunately we sent in our mail-in ballots this year without his. Although getting better, voting was too much for him to worry about right now.
