To say that music and musicians have been an integral part of the 2008 Obama presidential campaign would be an understatement. In addition to obvious efforts like will.i.am's "Yes We Can" song and video, many people may not be aware that in collaboration with the Obama campaign, Steve McKeever and his team at Hidden Beach Records put together the first-ever official political soundtrack album.

This unprecedented compilation album had the overwhelming support and participation of many superstar recording artists spanning all genres of music such as John Legend, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Kanye West, Bebe Winans and Dave Stewart and more. There were so many great submissions, over 150 songs in a one week time, that the label and the campaign had a very tough time deciding what to finally include on the album. It was originally produced as a fundraiser for the Obama campaign, but it was unfortunately released just after the anti-Obama "celebrity" campaign launched and as the financial crisis was hitting. So at the time the album did not receive the attention it deserved. With the campaign now behind us, this musical cry for "Change" can now be enjoyed as a celebration of President-elect Obama and cherished by future generations as a memento of his historic candidacy.

By clicking on the MagNet player below, for the first time you can sample - and buy - the album right here on the Huffington Post. And if you buy the album here, you will also get a bonus track not previously available which is exclusive to the Huffington Post edition. It's a new song called "Obama Rock" by The Not So Silent Majority, a collective of musicians and artists including Danielle Brisebois (writer/producer of Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" and "Pocketful Of Sunshine", Paul McCartney's guitarist Rusty Anderson, Rick Nowels (writer of Dido's "White Flag") and Gregg Alexander (writer of Santana's "Game Of Love" and New Radicals' "You Get What You Give") as well as many other musicians.

Hidden Beach is planning on releasing an Obama Soundtrack Vol. 2 in the new future with a lot of the great music that they wanted to put on this album so stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy! For more information go to hiddenbeach.com

I want to purchase two copies of the CD with the bonus track offered (one for me, one for a Christmas gift), but I can't figure out how. I clicked on the Magnet link, but I don't want to sign up for their Beta program. The Hiddenbeach link offers the regular 18-track version, without the bonus track.

Anyone?

I do too - I want to actually own a hard copy. I guess we will have to not have the bonus track. sigh. Maybe they'll read this and decide to add it.

Just what we need - the commercialization of the Presidency!! As if Bill Clintons dragging it into a moral cesspool weren't enough.

Let's talk about Bill Clinton's supposed moral cesspool vs George W. Bush and talk about moral equivalence.

Bill lied about Monica - death toll was zero.

George lied about WMD and Al Qaeda in Iraq - Death toll 4000 + American lives and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Lives.

Guess my definition of a cesspool differs from yours.

No one died when Clinton lied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We now have 4,000 + brave military members dead because of Bush's lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are they making us do anything? Are we trading our freedoms for this album. Gee whiz. Get with it. Things are different now. We're all in this together: that's what this made me feel like. As long as they don't do anything illegal or apparently untoward with the money so what? Do you know what we just went through for 8 years?

Chill out gabb. Please. See I asked nicely, still basking in the glow of the Obama/Biden win.

I live in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California -on 65 acres of pristine natural beauty. Every day when I awaken, I feel truly blessed and honored to be a steward of this magnificant paradise. Where I have always been inspired by the harmony and purity of this landscape, that inspiration has been in short-supply when it comes to the landscape of mankind -especially those in charge of leading our people.

Yet, now...for the first time in my 51 years, I have hope. Hope in a president. Hope in our future -and the future of our children (our future generations!) For the first time in my life, I truly believe that integrity and ethics can be restored back into government.

I have been so moved by Obama and the hope and vision he brings to our world, in fact, I was inspired to write this song/video. It is called 'For the Children' and it is my gift of love to the planet. I hope it inspires all who see it! -Lynn Zanetta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gi3VNLhHq4

Wow - This video is truly inspirational! The music and the images become one message that is so beautiful, so deeply touching . I encourage everyone to see it! Oprah should see this! - Ellen Degeneres should see it; and Barack Obama, -Angelina & Brad, Ted Kennedy, Peter Coyote, and Conan O'Brien! This should be required viewing for all humans! I really hope it spreads around the world. What a gift ...Thank you for sharing this lovely gift with all of us!

I already bought the MP3s off of the Obama website about a week ago (wanted to be able to go around playing it out my minivan's windows on election day - track 4 "American Prayer" is my family's favorite song, calms the baby down when almost nothing else will.

I'm really interested in the bonus track tho - Unwritten is one of my theme songs and I also listen to Dido when I need to get out of a bad/unproductive mood quickly. Is there a way to purchase it separately?

I don't know what is on this album, but I am surprised that nobody
on the Obama campaign realized that the most perfect song for
the campaign and his eventual win was the Stephen Sondheim
hymn "Our Time" from Merrily We Roll Along. I encourage anyone to listen to any version on
YouTube..

I downloaded this fund raising CD from the Obama website shortly after the DNC . It has clips of his speeches mixed in with most of the songs. There is an excellent rock song that really was released as a celebration of Obama's election called, "We Are The Heart Of America", which is definitely worth a listen at www.loveisthecure,com

This will go nicely with our President John F. Kennedy tribute album. My 86 year old great aunt, (grandmother's sister), who passed a year ago, didn't get a chance to see this. She would have been so proud. I'm sure she will be happy that these two compilations for two great people can sit next to each other on the shelf.

Thankfully, you are mistaken, tallcoolone47. This is the ONLY official CD released with the blessings of the Obama campaign. Part of the proceeds are going to charity and the music from the CD has been heard by millions in association with the campaign. The CD was originally available exclusively on the barackobama.com website right after the DNC.
