We'll see. So far, with his appointments of Emanuel and Gibbs and the list of possible Cabinet members there isn't anything new that might denote change of any kind. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. We'll know soon enough.

Do people expect Obama to select people like Sarah Palin?

I believe that Obama will have an authoritative voice of change and his team will execute his plan, his vision. His vision is different, but let's not be naive and think that untested strangers could do this job.

His first pics have been on the mark. From what I have read about Emauel, he is tough, but he gets things done, that is what Obama needs. Are you looking for a disappointment? Maybe you are can do better.

Obama is working with a mix of qualified people from political vets to newbies on the scene. As our new leader, Obama is calling the shots and he needs staff with different strengths to get things done. Don't be critical about choices made at this early stage. We, the American people, can't begin to understand the underlying challenges that await our new President. I ca only imagine what was learned in that first briefing yesterday. Only President-elect Obama can make the tough decisions for our best interest and, I must say, I trust him completely in making those decisions. It feels great knowing we have a leader who's smarter than the average "Joe".

I hope everyone will take a few moments to email and request that congress immediately address two items:

Overturning the Patriot Act and restoring our Constitutional rights

Election fraud protection in fhe form of regulations, so that we never have to sweat out another election cycle worrying that it'll all be stolen

Agreed. And how about requiring "truth in advertising" in campaigns -- an office based on the idea of factcheck.org to make all campaigns at all levels accountable for slander. And mail and phone violations.

I must say I felt very humbled to add my email address. Government that INCLUDES the people.

Although interesting and innovative, I'm concerned by the part where you give them your personal information...

Why does the government need to collect e-mails and addresses from citizens in order to share their stories with the President-Elect? What purpose does the OPE have for this information? Are they hoping to build a list to sell to political allies? Since this is hosted as a government site, I think they need to explain what official use they will make of this information. It is disturbing to think that this administration is going to be in constant campaign mode, much like thye Clinton administration was during the 90's...

Also, this site has a .gov domain. That is reserved for “qualified government organizations and programs”. The incoming administration technically has no status as a government organization or program until January 20, 2009. The “Office of the President-Elect” doesn’t exist within the government. Furthermore, the use seen at the site is clearly promotional for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and should have been kept at their own campaign domain rather than set up as an official US government site.

I'm not being sour grapes, just asking some legitimate questions...

If you don't like it, don't go there or participate--it's that simple.

Oh, yeah--and he's doing something that has never been done before. So what? He's making good on his promise to change the way government works--and he started within 2 days of being elected.

Has anyone else ever done that?

First you only have to put your email and zip code. Email so they can of course reply and zip to target info to your email (kind of like how the campaign targeted voter with specific issues based on the area they lived) If you are based in New York switch grass info will be pretty useless. Second if you look at the copywright at the bottom og the page you will see that it is not an official gov site. This is a "transition" site to keep supporters involved till he is sworn in and the official one is lauched. It will make for an easy transition for everybody.

That's all cool and all that, but do you think they should have a randomly drawn lottery like thingy for people who would never have a ghost of a prayer of getting invited to the inaugural. $25 lottery. Count it towards the next campaign. yeah. me buy some.

We should be very proud as Americans, not that we elected the first black man, but rather that we elected possibly the most remarkable, capable, majestic man possible to lead us in the infancy of this century. This man of remarkable caliber has the ability to incite people to love and come together and to be inspired.

He has an amazing quality to bring hope out of the closet where it has been hiding for years. He has not only a brilliant mind, but the heart of a lion and the soul of humanity, and a twinkle in his eyes of a new father.

The world is watching with a sigh of relief. God bless him and keep him safe.

WOW who da thuk it? A government of, by and for the people. I think I heard that somewhere once a long time ago. At the top of the organization chart on the website is a thing called "The Constitution" What is that?

I looked, but saw no references to the Constitution...

I mean, unless it was under "charter of negative liberties..."

I'm jus' sayin'

Thumbs up, I hope people start submitting their ideas. I have always felt some of the best solutions for our country was sitting in some city or small town far away from D.C. or the political scene, but people had no way to get their ideas to the right folks in power so it never went anywhere. This will prove if my theory is right or not. I just hope folks in charge of reading the submission, take the time to really read through them. I'm sure they will get so many! They will need a committe just to weed through them all and find the gems.

Such a simple idea, and yet one which will have such a positive impact.

You find yourself thinking "Why didn't the last administration do this?" and in that very thought, you realise just how much of an improvement the new administration will be.

I for one cannot wait to see the Obama administration kick into gear over the next few months. I get the sneaky feeling that it's going to be truly breathtaking to watch. :)
