Reporting from Phoenix -- Sarah Palin left the national stage Wednesday, but the controversy over her role on the ticket flared as aides to John McCain disclosed new details about her expensive wardrobe purchases and revealed that a Republican Party lawyer would be dispatched to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in her possession...

For weeks, the McCain-Palin campaign has dealt with the fallout from the disclosure that the Republican National Committee was billed for $150,000 in wardrobe purchases for the Palin family -- a discovery that was widely ridiculed and undercut Palin's hockey mom appeal.

Several McCain aides said they had recently discovered that Palin's traveling staff had used personal credit cards to spend as much as $20,000 to $30,000 on additional wardrobe items for Palin.

Also, check out HuffPost's slideshow of Palin's fashion on the campaign trail - how she spent that $150,000:

There is far to significance to Sarah Palin than these kinds of articles indicate. Read the following article on Joe Bageant site on Sarah Palin. Gives us a clear glimpse of the future.

Yes, everyone needs to read the Joe Bageant article - highly recommended! It truly does give a realistic look into the future of our country, and both Dems and Repubs. And it explains why Sarah Palin may have become the symbol of the future GOP.

Sarah Palin earned every stitch of those damned clothes. Look at the millions old Barak has spent- his personalized plane with no American flag cost a million at least and now 2 PERSONAL chartered airline trips to Hawaii @ $20,000 PER HOUR. Take the freakin' clothes and run with em' Sarah- You betcha'!

Obama at the time, was running for president of the United States. How did you expect him to fly, economy? How incredibly stupid to expect him to do something else. As well, Obama had money that was raised by him, for him and his campaign by his party. Palin was told to buy 3 suites for the campaign trail and 2 for the convention. She said they all went back, 30% the first week and the rest would go to charity. SHE TOOK THEM ALL HOME IN 13 SUITCASES. SHE LIED AND LIED AND LIED AND LIED. Now they are revealing even more of her expenditures such as free trips etc. The woman is an opportunist and a thief and liar.

The flights are within the law . The purchase of the clothes for personal use out of donated funds falls under corrupt practices not allowed under law.

The Obama Campaign plane has an American flag on it. The one that was removed was part of the logo of the airlines that the plane was purchased from - it HAD to be removed.

You MUST be joking....whatever Barack Obama spent on his attire, is his business, because HE paid for it, not the Democratic party. Sarah Palin is an opportunist - she will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to benefit herself - not the nation. In fact, John McCain himself sponsored the bill that forbids the parties from purchasing clothing for candidates....It's called McCain/Feingold. I suggest you read before you encourage illegal actions.

I love how the GOP has to go all the way to ALASKA to get the clothes back.

Yeah, the least she could have done was leave them in Arizona! I'm just glad she has been captured, tagged, and released back into the wilds of Alaska.

Didn't Palin just say this past weekend that one, there is no one that she knows of that is coming from the RNC to "look through her closets" and two, she didn't take any of clothes back with her BECAUSE they belonged to RNC. Well....read the LATEST: she's SORTING THROUGH CLOTHES TO DETERMINE WHICH ARE HERS AND WHICH ARE THE RNC!!! She looks right in the camera and continually BOLD-FACE LIES, OVER AND OVER!!!! Read on, just posted a short while ago.

The GOP is stringing Palin along, so she doesn't try to form a 3rd Party candidacy. If she forms a Christian Values Party, she will destroy the GOP for all time.

This woman steals clothes and wants to be President?
The Republicans want her to run in 2012?
Her campaign slogan "It takes a Thief"

Is she truly this dumb or are we?

Joe Bageant sums it up very well:

Sarah Palin was never chosen for her strengths, but in fact for her weaknesses. For electoral purposes these were her strengths. She was chosen to be savaged because in order to savage her you would need to savage the realities, the life styles and thinking of the largest segment (though not a majority) of American electorate. Her ignorance of the world, her religious practices, her out of wedlock pregnant daughter represented far more true pictures of the realities of American life than the cosmopolitanism of Barack Obama. It was to be the juxtaposition of his professorship of constitutional law to the countless community colleges she attended, his perfect family to her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, his Harvard educated wife to the "First Dude" of Alaska. What they were trying to say to American voters was the following: Barack Obama might be the mask you want to put on in this hour of need, but you know in your heart of hearts it is Sarah Palin that is the more truthful nature of your profile. Her selection was an attempt to make the election about the culture wars, and it nearly worked. Absent the timely melt down in Wall Street it would have likely led to a John McCain victory.

It seems to me that if you have to send a lawyer to get the clothes, Palin wasn't willing to hand them over before she left for Alaska...

Yes. And if she considered these things "loaners" why did she buy her daughters Hello Kitty watches and Louis Vuitton purses? She's gonna rip them away and tell them what exactly???

So, now I read that the total expenditure on Palin family togs came closer to a quarter mil. My question: do the kids and Todd have to give back their clothes, too?

I understand Todd's new wardrobe, all by itself, came to close to $50 grand.

Yes. And even that may not be enough to keep from getting in trouble for violating McCain-Feingold Act. They have to pay income taxes on it, just like if the RNC had bought them a house.

The Wassilla Hillbillies also have to return items that disappeared from the Palin / McCain campaign plane.

It was reported that Sarah and Todd Palin were distacting reporters near the front of the plane while three girls, one boy and a baby (dressed in Nordstom clothes) were seen unloading black garbage bags containing blankets, pillows, bags of nuts and little alcohol bottlesfrom the rear of the airplane.

Palin may have plans for those clothes: using them in her 2012 campaign. Millions of voters are enthusiastic about her running for President in 2012. Dress for success!

Now that her designer threads are being repossessed
Sarah Palin's clothes = Sarah's Plain clothes.

The clothes are an item by themselves but that will soon die. But she reminds me of my last cruise to Alaska in 2005 where upon disembarking from the luxury that is the Diamond Princess I witnessed a bald eagle for the first time in my life in the midst of all the local squalor. I didn't know Palin or anything about her at that time, but if you put glasses on that eagle and a pair of Gucci shoes our meeting would have happened much sooner. The results would have been the same.

REGARDING PALINS GARB. IF I WAS'NT 25 POUNDS OVER WEIGHT, LOOKED AS GOOD AS HER, DID SHE REALLY HAVE 5 KIDS? AND SOMEONE WANTED TO LOAM ME DESIGNER CLOTHES, I'D SAY,"HELL YES." PEOPLE ARE FORGETTING THE PUBLICITY THE DESIGNER GOT AND THEY DAMN WELL KNOW IT. JUST LIKE THE DESIGNERS AT AN OSCAR EVENT. SHE CAN NOT HELP BEING BEAUTIFUL.
AZ BERNIE.
DAMN SOME PEOPLE HAVE ALL THE LUCK.

Ah...Nancy Reagan got in REAL trouble for doing same, hence, the reason why now it's a big-time no-no to accept anything, clothes whatever, because it's called "influence". Nancy Reagan was given an ultimatum because she too thought that just because someone gives you some thing doesn't mean it's always a gift. She was told to either return the designer duds, buy them or donate them, but the IRS was all over this with Nancy. Maybe she should have "Just Say No".

Sarah you have no room to complain about media coverage. There was an entire television network that dedicated itself to the to the Republican party and you. That news network is Fox News.

exactly.

Yea for Fox News!!! The only honest news reports during the entire election and the most
interesting--by far.

This is a joke, right?

Need a little help with a definition for "honest"?

There's nothing fair and balanced about the truth, it's just the truth. And Fox would recognize he truth if it ran over them with a Peterbuilt.

Sarah Palin should stop complaining about the media not treating her fairly. The media has gone overboard to celebrate and protect her. The media accepted Sarah Palin after only one day, whereas after 21 months undecided voters and decided voters were saying that they did not know enough about Obama. Sarah was fully acceptable immdiately upon being announced as Mc Cain's running mate.

News media personality Anderson Cooper was still bringing up Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers on election day, Yet Anderson Cooper not once ever brought up the Palin's friendship with Joe Vogler, the self professed hater of America, founder of the Alaska Indepence Party (encoraging Alaskan citizens to secede from the Union, and friend of both Sarah and Todd Palin. When Roland Marin dared discuss the topic, Cooper cut him off and changed the subject. Sarah needs to hush up, because anderson Cooper and Fox News will cover up for you. Sarah's ignorance of the world beyond Alaska was costly for her.
