Sam Perry: Oprah's "Mr. Man" Revealed, To Be On Show Friday

Oprah's random shoulder to cry on has been identified, and he'll be on her show Friday.

Oprah Winfrey said on her show Wednesday that she did not know the man whose shoulder she cried on during the Obama victory event Tuesday night in Chicago's Grant Park.

"I ended up, I don't know who this guy is," she said while showing a photo of her crying on a nearby celebrator's shoulder. "Friends called me around the country saying, 'Who is with you?' I go, 'I don't know him!' But he was very nice to me. At one point I was just sobbing on his shoulder, mascara everywhere. Anyway, thank you Mr. Man for letting me cry on your shoulder."

The Chicago Sun-Times Thursday identified the man as Silicon Valley resident Sam Perry, who was listed as Obama's communications director for the region:

Perry is apparently an Obama volunteer, listed as the communications director for Silicon Valley for Obama.

Giselle Schmitz, regional field director for the Obama campaign, described Perry as "a great guy" and "tremendous asset to the organization."

"He's a great, great supporter," she said. "He did a ton of work on the campaign."

Spontaneous hugging and random celebration with strangers makes perfect sense to me on such a night but it creeps me out that there's no mutual interaction between Oprah and this guy, he's just a pillar and she's just leaning on him crying! I mean, how does he feel? Like, "Oh it's Oprah, I'd better not move." But if she wasn't famous wouldn't it be sort of odd that someone was crying onto your neck for awhile? I guess it wouldn't look odd to me if he had participated in the interaction, like put his arm around her and gotten emotional too.

Wasn't that Stedman (sp?) standing behind Oprah? How cute though that she leaned forward on this other gentleman.­..yes, I would have caught Oprah's tears and made a shrine to her...love her!! And so cool all the outpouring of love and affection for the Obama's. Yes, from the conservati­ve/Republi­can side too (not the loons, they'll always be way the heck out there)...M­cCain, Rice, Bush, Juan Williams, etc. they have all said (and I believe sincerely meant) how proud they are of our nation and Barack. I just hope this will wave of good feelings will last for a while before the Hannity and Limbaughs of the world try to rip the limbs from everyone in his adminstration, etc. But for now, I'm just going to revel in it!
