The Washington Post's Al Kamen reports:

Reuters television White House correspondent Jon Decker reports that President Bush's dog Barney, going on a walk this morning on the North Lawn, let his reaction to the news show.

He "bit my right index finger this morning -- as I reached down to pet him," Decker said. The bite broke skin and the wound was bleeding enough to prompt White House physician Dr. Richard Tubb to treat Decker with antibiotics. He will also be getting a tetanus shot.

Scotties are always in the mood to be petted if you just love 'em. Barney has not been properly taken care of and loved like he should be. Barney looked tense and fed up with something or someone. I want to take him and just love him. My 13-year-old Scottie Nigel is sweet every day of his life; he is not even tense when I take him to the vet. That tail is in permanent wag mode. It's all about the lovin'. Love sweet love. Yeah.

Anyone who attempts to pet a dog by putting their hand right in the animal's face
is probably going to be bitten. How would you feel if a giant, that you don't know , suddenly stuck it's hand in your face. Good for Barney!

Scottish terriers are notoriously nasty to strangers. Decker did a dumb thing. We all know his name now, though. Call it square.

Go, Barney go!!! My only disappointment was that the injured reporter wasn't Keith Olbermann.

What do you expect look who his owners are, I'm surprised Barney is not deranged by now.

Hey Jon Decker, you dummy, when a dog doesn't know you, don't put your hand in its face.

A secret Federal Grand Jury has been convened to investigate the First Dog. Sources close to the investigation say the dog is under investigation for attempted murder, assault, battery and being a member of organized crime. Barney is expected to be charged along with several million unindited co-conspirators under RICO laws. Prosecutors say the pack ranged all across the nation, marking their territory and assaulting outsiders. The investigation came after the "First Dog" attacked and bit a reporter. Capitol Police say no charges will be issued for that attack. "It was a public service," they said.

Leave Barney alone - he didn't like the guy - at least he's honest.

Where the heck is Cesar Milan when we need him? He's gonna need a session.

I think Cesar would say Barney acted out because of inner tensions of its owner.
An unstable pack leader creates an unstable pack. Hence Barney attacking.

Bush has never had a problem executing humans so I would imagine he'll have no trouble putting Barney down.
