Vice President-elect Joe Biden leaves an open chairmanship on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that could end up being filled by one of the most outspoken critics of the Iraq war.

Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.), among the chamber's most liberal members, is the fourth Democrat in line on the committee, behind Biden, Sen. Chris Dodd (Conn.) and Sen. John Kerry (Mass.).

Russ is an American hero - a true Frank Capra esque politician who says what is truly in his heart and on his mind.

Excellent!

It would be even sweeter, though, to see Feingold in charge of the Senate committee on Homeland Security.

Dan Senor should just shut up.

I'm sick to death of Republicans telling everyone what the election just meant as if somehow it wasn't a reflection of their corrupt policies.

What it meant was that nobody was happy with your "leadership".

In addition, when in the past eight years were Republicans open to ANY policy or appointment suggestion from democratic leadership? Now they offer opinions on what we need to do to be successful.....????

SCREW THEM!!!!

I think Feingold would be an AWESOME choice.

Biden leaves big shoes to fill. Russ is OK in my book, but does he have depth in that area? And OBTW, screw Dan Senor and his neocon opinions. Who asked him anyway?

I like Feingold. Feingold is a really good guy. But foreign relations requires pragmatism, a willingness to look the other way for the greater good. I think Feingold may be too pure for Foreign Relations.

I'm all for it. Russ would be an excellent choice.

Now...

What will Obama do about Dennis Kucinich, the most courageous and principled person in the House?

I would like to see Kucinich as Speaker of the House. At the very least. Better yet, in the cabinet.

What will Kucinich do for President Obama?

Remind Obama that he is but a man....in the event he, as Bush did, thought he was more than he is.

The reference is to a practice that was part of Roman Triumphs

I'd like to see Sen. Feingold groomed to be a successor to President Obama.

I was going to say let's see how Biden works out. But on reflection, if Obama serves two terms, Biden would be a tad too old. I did sour on Feingold when he ruled out running in this election.

I'd like to see Feingold as Senate Majority leader. He and Obama will ensure bad legislation never gets through/

Feingold YES

Every day I pinch myself to make sure I am not in some heavenly dream.

Finally the GOOD PEOPLE are going to be in charge.

They inherit an impossible mess. Fixing Bush's broken country won't be easy or quick.

I love Feingold. I am from Wisconsin and have always admired him. He does the right thing no matter what the cost. Remember when he was the only Democratic senator to support Ashcroft as AG, the only senator to oppose the Patriot Act? Balls! Feingold"s reason for not opposing Ashcroft was that there was no reason, other than political, to oppose him. Feingold is not a knee-jerk liberal, he is a thoughtful intelligent politician with a great sense of integrity. As much as I like Joe Biden I would have loved to seen him as VP. If McCain had picked Feingold as VP he would be president now. (McCain 1.0 that is, circa 2000)

Need more women. Barbara Boxer deserves a position as well. Where? C'mon Barack, don't fail us now. I'm a white male, by the way.
