Early into the Obama candidacy, 60 Minutes' Steve Kroft paid a visit to the family's Chicago home and was privy to some tuna salad-making (recipe below) in the kitchen. The conversation turned to other things the then-senator cooks well (Malia: "Chili and that's it"), and Obama defended himself: "The truth is, before I met Michelle I did quite a bit of cooking. I had an Indian roommate for a while, so I learned how to make Indian food. I grew up in Hawaii where there's a lot of Asian influence, so I learned how to cook Chinese food...also, the stuff I make is a little too spicy for these guys." When Obama asks his daughters what kind of food they like, they deliver a unanimous and resounding reply: "Cheese." "So," Obama continues, "it's not as if we've got real sophisticated palates in this household." Scroll down to see the video.

From what we can decipher, Obama's tuna salad recipe is as follows:

President Obama's Tuna Salad
-Tuna
-Grey Poupon mustard
-Mayonnaise
-Chopped gherkins

Looks like a good recipe. I'd like to know if President Elect Obama (really like writing that) has tried any spicy Tuna from Pastene? There's Chili Tuna and Fresh Ginger Tuna, I like 'em both. The Obama kids should try the Ginger tuna. Here's a recipe they might like Tuna Stuffed Tomatoes. If President Elect Obama would like to try our Tuna we'll send him some from Pastene.com. Now I'm gonna have that tuna right outa the can for lunch.

I hope the transparency includes a little insight to the chili recipe - and if he makes a version for the more sophisticated palates.

Try fat free whipped cream cheese instead of mayo ...... no mustard ........2 eggs boiled ...chopped .........pickles ..... sprinkle paprika on top ...

I actually like regular mayo because the "lite" stuff has a funny taste. Also I like celery, chopped onion, dried cranberries or raisins and slivered almonds. And if you use the solid white the mayo won't turn it to mush.

The big problem with tuna salad is that some people put way to much mayonaise in it to where it turns into pinkish mush. The simpler, the better IMO.

Yes, I've drunk the Obama Koolade, and the effects have yet to wear off (I hope they NEVER do!)

I enjoy seeing the leader of our nation as a nice family man.
I enjoy contrasting that with the calm, authoritative man that I watch prepare to lead our NATION through these hard times and into the future.

I enjoy these moments when the "First Family" is shown to be just nice folk. It is reassuring and uplifting.

I feel the next 4 years will be a challenge, but one we can all face with a positive spirit, which always makes any challenge easier...

You're last line... beautiful. Hopefully it will be 8 years though. And I am willing to do my part, whatever that turns out to be, to stand with our president and help make this place better.

Watching that video makes me want some tuna salad. I love the way how they are still very much down to earth after winning. Gotta love this family.

What light shines from this family!

I have been so inspired by the priorities Barack and Michelle have put into -not only their own children- but all children of the world, I wrote this song/video in support of our children -our future generations!

It is my gift of love to the world...and I hope it touches and inspires all who watch it -just as Barack Obama has inspired me! -Lynn Zanetta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gi3VNLhHq4

Cast your bread into the water. It's amazing how happiness is infectious and we all seem to be catching it! He's inspired people around the world and in turn we are inspiring each other. Imagine what this could lead to. I feel so lucky to be alive at this time and to be a part of it!

Why do kids love cheese so much?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:51 AM on 11/10/2008

I'm 31 and I still love cheese. I have no idea why. Especially string cheese, peeling it apart seems to make it taste better. I don't know what's wrong with me.
