The Obama family is a close one and has never hid their affection from one another. Not only do Michelle and Barack Obama consistently display their love for one another with looks, kisses and pats, but they are equally demonstrative with their daughter Sasha and Malia. From kisses and hugs to casually draping their arms across their kids and carrying them around, here are some of the moments - caught by the AP and Getty - of the Obamas baby love throughout the years.

For security reasons, I am sure that these kinds of photo-ops will be minimised in the future but...look at the proud grin on the girls faces - imagine how surpercool it would have been for you if your dad and secret service agents dropped you off to school! This is still new and exiting for them.

Love your new first family, as I am married to an African man and have a mixed daughter I am delighted for this shining example. Congratulations USA!

You just have to wonder about people who hate seeing a family that loves each other.

I guess maybe he should turn his head for 17 years until one of the girls shows up pregnant.

The kids are cute. But they shouldn't be made into child stars and they shouldn't be on Hannah Montana.

Here's Why

The problem with an obsession is that it cannot be maintained in reality. The Obama's are a nice family. But they have their ups and downs like anyone else and will have their problems. This crazy leftist spin on everything the man does or says is getting a little scary.

I am a republican and he is my new President and I wish him well for my family and my country. But anyone who gets weepy eyed over a dad letting his kids off at school is a pathetic and lonesome creature getting their strokes vicariously.

That is scary.

I don't think it is a "leftist" spin as much as a media doing what the media does.
Look at Princess Di.

I think you are missing the reasons WHY people are so moved by this united and affectionate family. They are the First Family. Can you recall last time you saw a political family , much less a First Family, be this warm and affectionate? Certainly not your President Bush or Reagan.

With the Republicans' (often ironic) emphasis on family values that they fail to live up to as we witness scandal after scandal, it is a cultural coup of sorts to see family values on such public display by a Democratic First Family,,,...especially by an African American family a group often covertly bashed by Republican policies as not having family values,i.e. teen pregnancy, low marriage rate etc. (One of Bush's policies to fight poverty was to get "these women" to marry the father of their baby's daddy...lol; clueless.)

So don't get weepy....but it certainly is moving for many of us.

i wish my dad dropped me off to school once in a while. tear>>>> If the President Elect could do it why couldnt an executive?

Just guessing he is making a living to support you in the style you have becomed accustomed to.

How about a little respect for the old man, junior.
01:05 PM on 11/13/2008
Why are you attacking the kid for asking his dad to be a better father? is that your version of family values? the man just working, paying for kids toys and not having any time to spend with them??? I can tell you that is one of the biggest problems in this coutry and the reason so many kids get into trouble.

Also the people I know are not obssesed with Obama's family life at all. He is a great man, father and a role model. But we arer not into soap operas here. We want Obama to to get to the office and start turning this ship around. What has really been "Scarry" is the fact that Bush and Co. screwed up this country from 2000-2004 and you people voted for him again so he got to screw it up even more. Now we are all paying for it.

Stop spreading poisen and start becoming part of the solution.

The affection is sincere. The devotion and priority the Obama parents show to their children -a true rareity in this day and age! I am truly moved to see the love within this family...and I think they will serve as a profound example of what true 'family values' can, and should, be.

Here's a song/video I wrote that was inspired by Obama, in support of our children -our future generations! I hope it inspires...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gi3VNLhHq4

This is creepy, it creeps me out that people can be so obsessed with someones personal life. This obsession with the personal life of the Obama's is stupid, especially in a political way. This obsession with a political figure can not be healthy. Seriously.
05:23 AM on 11/13/2008
It's not creepy - it's the American Way...mmhhh let's think Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Simpson, etc inundating the tube. And these were celebrities! I'm glad that we are obsessed with politics and someone who is actually going to make a change... The reason people are into Obama's life is because the other examples of politicians we have has been very unhealthy. I think it's time for some feel-good. Party Pooper!

You nailed it. Now the real creepy people are starting to come out of the woodwork. Pathetic little nail biters who live through their fantasies. Obama touched many of these people who see him as their approving daddy. Anything goes.

Seeing how much his daughters adore him tells you so much about this man. This is love that can't be faked. His daughters are blessed....and any guy who wants to be a part of their life when they grow up is going to have a tough act to follow.

I'm sorry you didn't have or maybe get a chance to know your dad. Mine died four years ago, age 75. I still think about him and miss him every day. These children are beautiful, and their relationship with their parents is obvious (though teen years can be difficult!) and I sincerely hope that years of being in the public eye with the pressure their dad will be under doesn't interrupt that relationship. I suspect it wont. These kids will be Obama's bedrock. Any decisions he'll take, he'll look at them and wonder how it will affect them.
I want someone who thinks about the effects of a policy on their kids in the White House. Thank you America.

I hate to sound ignorant, but what does the acronym "PDA" mean?
04:23 PM on 11/12/2008
I am ignorant, but self-correcting. From Wikipedia, PDA is and acronym which stands for "public display of affection" along with the more common, but not correct from context, "personal digital assistant".
11:33 AM on 11/13/2008
Personal digital assistant, like a BlackBerry

Wow, not THAT is cute! Aw...they're such an awesome family.

That's what i aspire for a family of my own to resemble.

How wonderful it will be to see a young family in the White House! I'm confident that these parents will keep things as real as possible for their children. And I for one can't wait to see the pictures that will chronicle the holidays, birthdays, and everyday lives of these First Childen.
