WASILLA, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, amid speculation she'll run for president in four years, blamed Bush administration policies for the defeat last week of the GOP ticket and prayed she wouldn't miss "an open door" for her next political opportunity.

"I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door," Palin said in an interview with Fox News on Monday. "And if there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door."

In a wide-ranging interview with Fox's Greta Van Susteren, Palin says she neither wanted nor asked for the $150,000-plus wardrobe the Republican Party bankrolled, and thought the issue was an odd one at the end of the campaign, considering "what is going on in the world today."

"I did not order the clothes. Did not ask for the clothes," Palin said. "I would have been happy to have worn my own clothes from Day One. But that is kind of an odd issue, an odd campaign issue as things were wrapping up there as to who ordered what and who demanded what."

"It's amazing that we did as well as we did," Palin, who was Sen. John McCain's running mate, said of the election in a separate interview with the Anchorage Daily News.

"I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a $10 trillion debt in a Republican administration? How have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration? If we're talking change, we want to get far away from what it was that the present administration represented and that is to a great degree what the Republican Party at the time had been representing," Palin said in a story published Sunday.

Palin has scheduled a series of national interviews this week with Fox, NBC's "Today" show and CNN. She also plans to attend the Republican Governors Association conference in Florida this week.

Palin has been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate in 2012. She also could seek re-election in 2010 or challenge Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Still uncertain is the fate of Sen. Ted Stevens, who is leading in his bid for another term but could be ousted by the Senate for his conviction on seven felony counts of failing to report more than $250,000 in gifts, mostly renovations on his home. If Stevens loses his seat, Palin could run for it in a special election.

Palin and McCain's campaign faced a storm of criticism over the tens of thousands of dollars spent at such high-end stores as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus to dress the nominee. Republican National Committee lawyers are still trying to determine exactly what clothing was bought for Palin, what was returned and what has become of the rest.

Her father, Chuck Heath, said Palin spent part of the weekend going through her clothing to determine what belongs to the Republican Party.

"She was just frantically ... trying to sort stuff out," Heath said. "That's the problem, you know, the kids lose underwear, and everything has to be accounted for. Nothing goes right back to normal,"

Palin's father said his daughter told him the only clothing or accessories she personally had purchased in the past four months was a pair of shoes.

RNC lawyers have been discussing with Palin whether what's left of the clothing and accessories purchased for her on the campaign trail will go to charity, back to stores or be paid for by Palin, a McCain-Palin campaign official said Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the campaign hadn't authorized comment.

The McCain-Palin campaign said about a third of the clothing was returned immediately because it was the wrong size, or for other reasons. However, other purchases apparently were made after that, the campaign official said.

In Wasilla, her hometown backers welcomed her, putting aside their disappointment over her unsuccessful bid.

Jessica Steele can't wait to see what Sarah Palin does next _ not with her political career, but with her hair.

"That's something I want to talk to her about: What's our vision for her hair?" says Steele, proprietor of the Beehive Beauty Shop and keeper of the governor's up-do since 2002. "I can't wait to see her and say, 'OK, I've got you alone for three hours. Just relax, and how are you, really?'"

While Palin remains popular, the reality of defeat is evident.

Bags of fan mail, as many as 400 letters a day, partially fill a room at her parent's house. But parents no longer meet Secret Service agents when they pick up their children at Cottonwood Creek Elementary, where Palin's youngest daughter, Piper, is a student. The reporters and camera crews are gone from the Palin home on Lake Lucille, once patrolled by Coast Guard boats. Now a thick sheet of ice covers the lake.

Four state troopers still guard the governor 24 hours a day, Heath said _ something Palin never had before.

And in a bit of familiarity, Heath said he brought a pot of moose chili to Palin's house this past weekend.

Sharon Theimer deserves to be fired. I saw this interview before and after I read this article. I verified that Sarah Palin did not say "I'm Like" when speaking of the opportunity of an open door. Sharon was attempting to make Palin sound less intelligent by adding the poor grammer twice to the sentence......and she put it in quotes as if it were Palin's own words! I could go on of false quotes in this article. What happened to the integrity of the press? I don't question Sarah Palin's intelligence but I do question the intelligence of people that believe everything they read. Watch the video on Greta Wire, this article is garbage.

Sounds like Hillbilly Mama is trying to squirm out of giving all of the clothes back.

Let's not forget that she spent an ADDITIONAL $40,000 on clothes for Todd and the kids.

Them thar Hillsfolk are rich, so durn straight she should be a payin' for all them thar duds!

No more secret service mens, no more of them newfangled news cameras... Why shucks, sounds like things are a settlin' back down for a good long winter's hibernatin' in good ol' Bug Holler, Alaska.

Thank God!

Forgive me if you've seen this already (I posted it once before), but it just seems so appropriate for the topic and sums up how I feel.

The Ballad of Sarah Palin (to the tune of The Beverly Hillbillies)

Come and listen to a story 'bout a gov'nor named Palin
Moose-huntin' mama whose parenting is failin'
Then one day she was picked by McCain
And into the gutter went the GOP campaign
You betcha. Drill, baby, drill
Well, the first thing you know Miss Wasilla is a star
The GOP said, "Sarah, you're gonna go real far"
Said, "Washington is the place you ought to be"
So she loaded up on designer clothes thanks to RNC
Valentino, that is. Louis Vuitton
Well, now it's time to say goodbye to Sarah and her clan
The oddly-named five children and the snow mobile man
They're not invited back again to the lower forty-eight
To wreak a heap of havoc on the poor electorate
Hillbillies you are. Set a spell, take your Uggs off.
Don't come back now, ya hear?

Sarah Palin- A minimally intelligent narcissist- overly susceptible to believing in her own hype. Susceptible to dogma and narrowminded points of view because of the limited capacity to actually CONNECT and EMPATHIZE with others, coupled with emotional DENSENESS.
I see people like this all the time in my mental health practice. Small minded, big ego-ed, minimal to moderate intellect. The one thing they have going for them is that they are often physically attractive and cunning- which is what has allowed them to get as far as they have. Fortunately ( and I predicted this when i first saw her speak at the RNC) these kind of people ALWAYS ALWAYS do themselves in, in the end. They so believe in their "specialness" that they become more and more singularly absorbed in what turns into their own personal crusade for recognition of their "uniqueness" and "specialness". Unfortunately, once people begin to see past the looks, and begin to see that there is NO depth whatsoever, they begin to rapidly lose ground. Unfortunately to the point that they become the butt of so many inside jokes. But sadly, they are so incredibly self absorbed, that they are truly STUNNED when they are wholeheartedly REJECTED.
poor little thang....she did herself in first and foremost.....then allowed the GOP to finish the job

I'm a mental health counselor and I thought the same thing. She grew up poor, and spent the rest of her life in the persuit of money and outside validiation (the public). I've seen the recent interviews, and she does verbalize that she can't understand how they lost so badly.

Thing is, if some voters recruit her, she will run in 2012 for president, even though she doesn't realize the general public thinks of her as a laughing stock.

Truth to PALIN! The truly sad part of this is that there are so many other out there that are just like this, they can't see past themselves to recognize their own faults in her.

We all have friends and relatives like Sarah, sad part of that is, you can drop the friends but are stuck with the relatives. They are and endurance, but thank goodness adulthood can remove them from your daily living.

yup- absolutely agree.
Hey,I think that we mental health counselors need to do gather ourselves up, trek up to Alaska, and spring a massive "Intervention" on Sarah Palin!!!

Perhaps we'll soon see mental health terms based on Sarah Palin.
Palinistic is a good start.

Time to put the Republican Diva's 'dirty laundry' back in the hamper! No one cares whether the kids lost their underwear.

This woman will take the Republican/Grand OLD Party down with her!

UNBELIEVABLE!

The Auto Industry is in trouble, there's 1.2 million Americans out of work, 7,500 more layoffs in Willmington, OHIO, the Economy is in the tank, 2 wars are waging & hey folks, it's Remembrance Day, a day to remember the troops!

MOVE ON! The electorate overwhelming sent John McCain & Sarah Palin a message: "Thanks ... but NO THANKS!

Seems I recall that in an interview after getting back to Alaska that she said everything had been returned to the RNC.

Like her father said, maybe the kids lost some underwear.

A clue for the RNC would have been when that uhaul backed up to the Mcplaine when she returned home. She had to restock her cosignment shop. Now Matt on the Today show went to AK to look into her drawers. All he got was her concession speech the GOP would not let her give. Damm GOP ! The soap never end, can't wait for the book. MY ninty nine yard run and I drop the ball. The other team picked it up and ran for a TD ! ;>)

She just doesn't GET IT! She was NOT criticized in a sexist manner about her clothes (too short, too tight, wrong colour) If that had happened it would have been trivial and truly sexist. It was the HUGE amount of money spent on her wardrobe by a party claiming to be on the side of "Joe the Plumbers" everywhere, that got everyone's "hypocrisy detectors" tuned up! It wasn't the CLOTHES Sarah!

Sarah doesn't seem to realize that those junior RNC staffers who had additional items on their credit cards, will have possession of the paper proof of those purchases PLUS proof of reembursement from the RNC.

So....either 2 (or more) RNC staffers made up a complete lie (meaning they should be fired and Palin could/should sue them for libel) OR... Sarah Palin is lying. All this can be completely proven Sarah, and the gloves will be off if you decide to go with the big leagues.

Does anyone else here notice the IRONY that always hits me in the face when I hear this insufferable woman yakking on?......... She always says "nobody commented on what Barack Obama was wearing" - when in fact Barack Obama was JOHN MCCAIN'S opponent. She doesn't say "nobody commented on what Joe Biden was wearing" which would have been the CORRECT comparision to make, if she was trying to make a point. That mention of Barack Obama as her "counterpart" always sends out signals to me...Lady MacBeth!

According to Sarah palin ,every woman in America should be able to spend $200k every 2 months on clothing for themself and their family. And of course,it should be funded by the tax payer.Anything less will be SEXISTS.

But then again, thats coming from some one who thought proximity to Russia gives one foreign policy experience. add to that proximity to Canada and the foreign experience cv becomes over charged.

Mind you, proximity to Canada though does not even qualify her to know the name of the Prime Minister of Canada as was potrayed in the prank Sarcoszy called.

I noticed that too that she compairs herself to Obama instead of Biden. The pitbull's trying to deflect the bad press on Obama. Won't work honey! Why? Because Obama never attacked anyone with anything else but policy issues, which was the truth!

It's called a belief in Karma. If you spread negativity, you will get it back ten fold.

Obama was criticized for having such a positive message even attacking McCain, that people at Palin's rallies said, "I'm not voting for Obama becuae he's too confident!"

Karma folks. Belive in it every time.

And don't forget to return the coats, boots, shoes, kids' clothes and accessories, and all the suitcases. If she didn't WANT or ASK for it all, she shouldn't have TAKEN it all.

I thoght the interview they did of her cooking in the fancy outfit was like watching 'Julia Childs' cooking show. I don't know of many regular ,typical middle class women who COOK while dressed so formal .The interview while she cooked was poorly staged ,very poorly staged. The quick shot by the camera of the younger daughter lugging the 'special needs 'infant around was really good tho,I remember cooking with a baby on each hip while my older ones PLAYED with friends ...did their homework and acted like a NORMAL kid.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:53 AM on 11/11/2008

Exactly. She said in the first half of the interview that there "was no clothes in her possission", and then completed the sentence by saying, "inventory is being done".

Growing up poor and mediocre, makes some people hungry for wealth and fame no matter who they must run over.....but they fail because they are dumb and people figure it out so fast!
