I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The business of high-end prostitution has been in the news quite a bit lately, partially because it's suffering along with the market. As CNBC reports in "Dirty Money," a new special on high-end escorts, some of the most loyal customers are Wall Street traders and other financial high-rollers. Well, they haven't had quite their best year.

In any case, the CNBC report delves into the seamy world of businesses like Emperor's Club VIP, revealing that former Governor Eliot Spitzer's prostitution ring transgressions wouldn't actually put him in what experts call the "high end."

The special airs tomorrow night, Tuesday, November 11 at 10 p.m./1 a.m. ET. Here's a sneak peek:

Yeah, well, there aren't many of us "experts" but guess what? My hooker peers have masters and doctorate degrees and are in their 30s - 50s. No one is supporting a drug habit, no one has a pimp, and not a single one of us has a history of sexual abuse either. We're smart women making an educated, healthy and appropriate choice for ourselves around our sexuality, and risk only being criminalized (if caught) and stigmatized (if outted). Who knew?

Escorting is (and probably always has been and probably always will be) recession proof. Escort-Ratings.com reports that as of the third quarter of 2008, 22 major cities posted an average of 3,799 escort reviews per month nationally. This is up from the second quarter YTD of 3,436. More info on my blog, missruby.escort-ratings.com.

No matter how much you spend on a "hoe," the final release is all the same. Some just get paid more in part due to a spin of a genetic roulette wheel.

Spitzer's hooker wasn't "high-end"? Are we talking positions here?

Prostitution is more widespread in this country than is generally recognised. Lots of young women do it to get by, then go legit later in life. What happened with Spitzer may be an example of what happens when the Attorney General's office is politicised, and Homeland Security is allowed to tap all phone and internet conversations without a warrant.

Hi-end, low-end....and all between. If there was no market for it....there would be no prostitutes. Lay the blame where it belongs......those who hire prostitutes "johns".

Just like drugs...legalize, regulate and tax. Nothing takes the fun out of misbehavin' like a stamp of approval from the government. Besides, we need the revenue.

thats what the netherlands did with marihuana and prostitution.

crime rates are now much lower in these sectors than in the US and the government is making billions out of sales taxes on marihuana and prostitution.

btw: prostitute is a regular job in the netherlands, with full social security, free health care and all those socialist european stuff.

If we would just learn from the french and allow mistresses all of this could be avoided.

yes but mistresses are prone to nagging too. plus you gotta do stuff to please them too.

with prostitutes, you dont have to do anything. just relax and they take care of everthing..LOL

Spitzer was a BITPULL, I hated to see him go. And my boy John Edwards won't see A.G. because he got caught getting some on the side.

Tell me again WHY we should care who our politicians are sleeping with? Unless they are pedophiles I could care less.

we care because they become security risk. what would have happened in your opinion if the escort agency or the hooker started threatening Spitzer.

a dead hooker in a hotel..thats what...so you see they become security risks.

I've often wondered why it's legal to give it away but illegal to charge for it.

Legalize everything then tax it. Maybe our choice of vices can get rid of the income tax.

If prostitution were legalised, then taxed, I can just imagine the future campaign slogans: "Put a charge in the prostitution business! Lower taxes on getting tail!!"

"High-End" was meant to be double entendre right?
