CNN:

It was one of John McCain's closing arguments: "We're getting a glimpse of what one-party rule would look like under Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Apparently it starts with lowering our defenses and raising our taxes," the Republican presidential nominee said repeatedly on the campaign trail in the final weeks leading up to Election Day.

But a new national poll suggests why a majority of voters didn't seem to buy that argument, as Barack Obama beat McCain in the presidential election and the Democrats made major gains in both the House, under Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the Senate, under Majority Leader Harry Reid.

I think the polls taken on November 4th are the ones that best demonstrate that Americans welcome Democratic control... but maybe that's just me.

The Democrats have had control of Congress for 2 years and what have they done? Nothing.

Obviously, the majority of Americans are a little more sophisticated and informed about our political system than you are. The Democrats had the majority in Congress for 2 years, but it was not a commanding majority. In other words, they were not in a majority position to override Bush's vetoes or Republican opposition, both of which hindered the Democratic agenda. With a Democratic President and an increased majority in the Congress, they're now in a better position to get more done, and America put them in that position with their votes.

Yup....as it should be. This is why I don't think the repoobs can try to throw up an obstructionist senate like they did in '92... (not that they will be able to anyway, since the outcome of a few contests are still undecided and Dems will pick up at least one more seat from those).

The public wants Obama to succeed, and they believe the Dems can drive the necessary legislation to help the country.

If repoobs try to obstruct, they are gonna pay a very, very steep political price.....

One Party rule? Excellent! Maybe we'll get something done now...something for US and not the Fat-Cats.

My oh my--how could that be?! Those are mighty strange poll results for a "center-right country."
