ABC News:

In his first first television interview since he became the center of controversy in the Presidential race, Chicago activist Williams Ayers breaks his silence in an exclusive interview with Chris Cuomo on Friday's "Good Morning America."

Ayers, a leader of 60s radical group the Weathermen, became a political lightning rod over past associations with president-elect Barack Obama. In his first exclusive interview, Ayers talks about the re-issue of his 2001 memoir "Fugitive Days" and his journey from privileged youth to 60s radical.

Ayers is a publicity hound. Now he shamelessly peddles a shirt tail "relationship" with Obama.

As a rough and tough Weatherman, the best Ayers could do was plant bombs in toilets. There is nothing he has to say which has any significance or meaning to those of us living in 2008. Forty years is a long time. What would be at least entertaining would be to cast him and Palin on an episode of 'Dangerous Housewives'.

You conservative trolls on this site who are continue critizing Obama about his "so-call associations" yet dismissing McCain and Palin associations, as if the election is still going on, are really pathetic and sad.

Know this, the election is over, we won and there is not a damn thing you can do about it. We did not just win, we whipped you a**. badly. This is the problem with the republicans and conservative base, you are constantly worry about the wrong things. I heard the best definition of insanity which reminded of republican/conservative party, which is Doing the same thing over and over again and each time expecting a different result. Now that is crazy, even madness.

So I suggest you get use to the idea of a President Obama, just like we had to get use to Bush. Trust me, you will be a more happy person, if you just accept what is. Obama will not be a perfect President, but you know deep in your little right wingnut hearts that McCain/Palin would have been a complete disaster. So, say it with me, I know you can do it, President Obama. Feels good huh.

Yeah I know, seriously. It's amazing that all conservaties seem to share the same G. Gordon Liddy-sized blind spot.

The weather underground lost their way, seduced by their own rhetoric and frustration. But Ayers has always pointed out that the bombs they planted were aimed at symbolic targets, that they took care not to hurt anyone through a bomb. He has said that he regrets not doing enough, stating that this was in the context of trying to end the war, not in reference to acts of violence. Their role can be debated -- but its hard to believe that anybody could think that their rhetoric and actions would have sparked a revolution.

I read his book and other accounts of the time. I remember when Prairie Fire was released. I saw the movie. I think there are things to learn from the history and politics of the time, about the movements that took hold. But there were others, like Dave Dellinger, who provided a clearer moral alternative to the war. And people like Cesar Chavez, who were more inspiration to me and changed my life in so many ways.

With that said, his actions cost a lot less than that of Charles Keating. And his rhetoric was perhaps less inflammatory than Gordon Liddy or Joe Volger. The whole thing should have been a non-issue.

Ayers money has bought him access and respectability. The only reason he came out of hiding was to collect his inherited millions. Even if he did some prison time, he would still be a millionaire when he got out. I would be more impressed if he gave away all that money.

As for being respected and an educator, the project he worked on with Obama was a FAILURE! They found no measureable improvement in Chicago schools for all those millions of OTHER peoples money he spent. Before I call somebody successful, they have to actually SHOW ME that they accomplished something other than writing a book and BSing about things. I would be more impressed if Ayers would go to a failing school in Chicago, and make it successful. He refuses to do that and sits in his ivory, gilded tower pontificating about how to do it, rather than actually DOING IT!

I think there is quite a difference in voicing your anti-establishment through song rather than bombs!

Funny how he now is willing to come out, since O has won. Same with his other questionable friends. How convenient.

ayers is a spoiled rich kid who felt guilty. Instead of going in a positive direction in his youth, he chose to destruct the US.

I hope he blasts them between the eyes and points out that Gordon Liddey has NOT done his time for the last crime he got caught at doing.

Actually, that was exactly what Liddy told his radio audience to do to ATF agents:

G. Gordon Liddy, on his show August 26, 1994: "Now if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you and they are bearing arms, resist them with arms. Go for a xxxx shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests....They've got a big target on there, ATF. Don't xxxxxxxxx because they've got a vest on underneath that. xxxx shots, xxxx shots.... K.ill the sons of b*tches." (even though we know what he said, I still don't want to print the exact instructions he gave)

John McCain on G. Gordon Liddy's show in 2007: "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family....It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."

if someone comes for my guns at that point the Constitution has fallen and a state of lawlessness is present.......head shots would not be against the law........

defending my property takes over at that point

Obama was EIGHT, get a life. It is over. Dirty politics didn't win this time.

Obama was not palling around with terrorists. You need to ask yourself about the relationships that McCain had with many unscrupulous people. Obama didn't need to air that dirty crap out but it's there.

EIGHT YEARS OLD GEEZ..

i love how obama's only real excuse for his relationship with ayers was that obama was 8 years old when ayers was blo.wing up buildings, and even sa.dder his supporters ate it, that would be like if mccain was associated with a na.zi camp coordinator but said "oh wait i was only 8 when he was me.lting je.ws"
