ABC:

Osama bin Laden is alive and "putting a lot of energy into his own security," the director of the CIA, General Michael Hayden, said today.

He also claimed, without providing details, that the US intelligence community had disrupted an attack "that would have rivaled the destruction of 9/11."

"American and its friends have taken the fight to the enemy," Gen. Hayden said in a broad roundup of efforts to fight al Qaeda.

If he's worried about his own security, then put him out of his misery.

You konw what threatens our NATIONAl security?

Having an ignoramus in office. I am thankful every day that Palin did not come into any position of power, because stupidity on the part of a leader exposes the country to more attacks. Terrorists are clever, and will take advantage of a lead'ers ignorance. Does anyone think McCain or Palin could read between the lines of an email, (or even kow how to open one, in McCain's case) and detect an attack, or even some suspicious activity?

Good god, I am glad Obama is president. I worry for the safety of our country when people are willing to put our country at risk by wanting to elect people like Palin, who are so uneducated and ignorant of the world, that their lack of knowledge can literally kill Americans.

What a steaming pile of hooey.

The "Global War On Terror" is a total SCAM...nothing more than a highly-profitable scheme cooked up by the MIC in order to boost their own profits at the expense of America's struggling middle class.

If Obama is serious about "change", he needs to kick professional fearmongers like Hayden and Negroponte to the curb immediately.

America's intelligence community needs a thorough, top-down "house cleaning".

I believe that OBL is alive. I know that it has been 7 years since he reared his ugly head, but abscence does not automatically mean he is 6 feet under...it may mean that he is biding his time (just like he did on the 9/11 attacks). If there is ONE thing we have learned about our enemy, it is that they are patient....and I am glad BO is NOT giving up the hunt for this m o n s t e r...

C.I.A. Closes Unit Focused on Capture of bin Laden

By MARK MAZZETTI
Published: July 4, 2006

WASHINGTON, July 3 — The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.

The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

~~~~~~~~~~~
....but then again, if they had captured them, they would be out of an excuse for a war to raid another country of its resources.
I believe Osama Bin Ladin is hiding in Yemen.
His family is originally from Yemen and that is where his tribe lives. In the Arabic world blood is much thicker than water. His family members would be honor bound to protect him. That would not be the case in Pakistan.
His residing in Yemen is also the reason we don't hear much from him. he is kept under wraps by the tribal elders. In exchange for his security.
Remember when you hear about his capture.
You heard it first from here.
"He appears to be largely isolated from the day-to-day operations of the organization he leads"
That is because Osama bin Laden was NEVER involved in day-to-day activities. He didn't plan the 9/11 attacks. That was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who is now at Gitmo.
I agree with Osama bin Laden's complaints against the USA. The American war machine is the evil force on this planet right now, and it is time for US to change our ways.
Leave Osama bin Laden alone!
Going so far as agreeing with bin Laden is a bit much. Cherry picking what he says is a dangerous move. Let's make no mistake -- bin Laden is a murderer and a criminal. Maybe he doesn't have veto power over the spider's web that al Qaeda has spawned into, but that hardly exonerates him.
That said, going after bin Laden at this point would be a symbolic gesture. He's only a figurehead at this point.
If there's ANY rhetoric about the foibles of US policy that you should be agreeing with, it should be President Eisenhower's 1961 speech warning us about rise of the military industrial complex -- back when Republicans actually /were/ responsible conservatives.
