As Arizona Sen. John McCain (R) travels to Georgia today to stump for Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), a new poll suggests the former GOP nominee could hurt Chambliss among independent voters.

In a poll published yesterday by SurveyUSA, 30 percent of Georgia independents said they would be less likely to vote for Chambliss if McCain campaigned for him, while 5 percent said a McCain swing through the Peach State would make them more likely to vote for Chambliss.

I would be nice to see former Georgia Sen. Max Cleland campaign for Martin.

Cleland could even show up at Saxby campaign speeches and sit in the audience while McCain speaks.

Or sit in his wheelchire outside of the places where McCain is speaking.

I like that idea!!
Might even remind McCain how much his former self was revulsed at Chambliss, who, after scrupulously avoiding military service, ran unspeakable ads attacking war-amputee Cleland and his patriotism.
Think John Sidney remembers? Should we remind him?
Martin should run ads with McCain's scathing words from back then.

You mean McCain is going to do for Chambliss, what he did for the $700 billion bailout when we rushed back to Washington?

The honorable John McCain...please go to GA and do your honorable campaigning for him; we all are happy to have you there!

McCain called his campaign ad a few years ago worse than disgraceful and reprehensible and the independents down there just love McCain. Go Johnny go!
