Update... AP has more information on Obama and McCain's Monday meeting:

President-elect Barack Obama will meet Monday with John McCain in talks that Obama's transition office said would focus on ways they can cooperate on an array of troublesome issues facing the country.

The meeting will be the first since Obama, the Democratic Illinois senator, beat McCain, the Arizona Republican senator, by an Electoral College landslide in the Nov. 4 election.

"It's well known that they share an important belief that Americans want and deserve a more effective and efficient government, and will discuss ways to work together to make that a reality," Obama spokesman Stephanie Cutter said in announcing the meeting.

This just in from Barack Obama's transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter, Obama and McCain will be meeting on Monday for the first time since the election.

He deserves nothing. He allowed Palin free reign to fire up the crazies, who chanted threats on Obama's life. Why is he meeting with McCain at all? There should be limits to Obama's inclusiveness. Some people just need to be left out of the loop. Lieberman? He needs to go NOW. He just shoved sh** on the Dems for years. Ed LaMont should have been Senator for Conn., not Mr. sore loser, Joe the Independent. I have said for years he should become a republican. That party suits him just fine.

This may be a very interesting meeting.

John McCain is above all a politician. He had to be aware that the Conservatives in the Republican threw him under the bus when he suspended his campaign , and they took off on a rant leaving their Presidential Candidate standing on his own, and looking quite the fool. It seemed that Joe Lieberman was the only person standing by him.

Now the Republicans are working to overturn through the courts Senator McCain's legacy legislation, the McCain-Feingold act.

Could Mr. McCain be meeting with Mr. Obama to negotiate Mr. Lieberman maintaining a status quo position. In return, Mr McCain might be able to offer a filibuster proof senate with his vote.

Probably not, but it's interesting to think about.

BHO could offer him a relatively high profile post--Sec. of Def. if he's not keeping Gates, or Sec. of Veterans Affairs.
