Murdoch Chernin

Los Angeles Times:

News Corp.'s Peter Chernin is wrestling over whether to surrender one of the biggest jobs in entertainment.

For the last 12 years, Chernin has been president and chief operating officer of News Corp. and helped his boss, Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch, reshape the global media empire. But at 57, he's not sure whether to extend his contract for an additional two or three years, or embark on another, less certain, chapter in his career.

Last week, when asked during an earnings conference call with investors and analysts to characterize the status of his contract talks, Chernin initially demurred, then allowed that they were "constructive." Murdoch quickly jumped in.

"I would characterize them as constructive and friendly," Murdoch said.

Note to front page editor using Murdoch and #2 in the headline can only lead to one conclusion. Please flush.

So this is what the bottom of a septic tank looks like. Two grumpy old men with vile hatred spread all over their faces.

News Corp stock prices began to fall as Barack Obama's poll numbers began to climb. Did American viewers get sick of FOX News with their smear campaign against the democratic candidate? News Corp stock has dropped like a rock since the election. Down 60% since August. GOP TV has had it's 8 years of prosperity, and now the end is near.

Rupert is definitely "not an American like us". Sarah missed this point somewhere in her supposed political education!

Odd thing is that he's a Democrat and gave most of his contributions to Obama.

Speaking of rivals, maybe he could be over the FCC in the Obama administration. It is all about money and power, after all. The money he already has. Well not over the FCC, but maybe play another important role in the administration.

FAUX NEWS stories are going to become obsolete as Americans are tired of the divisive hate fill stories just like they got tired of "W". It is a new day and a new chapter is commencing in American history. The internet has been an impetus on this development. DOWN with FAUX NEWS and CNN (Faux Lite).

News these days are a joke. One has to listen to all of the sources, check around the world and get
a good take on it. Seems like everyone is spinning it to their advantage and it should be labelled
"opinion" only. Whatever happened to good journalism?

Chernin is better off staying there at Newscorp for now because like the article says there are no openings in the media/entertainment business that would appeal to Chernin. However After 12 years of being number two, I am sure Chernin wants sit in the CEO chair right now, and he would be a good one at that. Murdoch has no real succession plan at Newscorp. Murdoch will run that company until the day he dies. If Bewkes doesn't work out at Time Warner, Chernin would be good choice to take over. Good executive.
