A strategist for a rival potential presidential rival e-mails to express amusement with Gov. Sarah Palin's come one, come all PR strategy:

"Fine with us. Let her be the sacrificial lamb for 2012."

Which means: a lot of the folks who you'd think are angling to run in 2012 are certainly preparing to do so, but they're looking to and thinking about 2016....

Lets not wait for 2012 for the sacrifice.

If they left her out in the wilderness, would the wolves really eat her? Or just say thanks, but no thanks.

If the Republican party does not stop her, the party is heading for a fall. Then again, prehaps it is a ploy as very soon someone knowledgeable, intellegent and capable will come forth and revive the party, demonstrating how the party has grown, putting the party back in the hands of the true "conservatives"; Buckley et al.

er...I think they already had a big fall....Nov 4...

Give her time; she'll be Mud wrestling with Tonya Harding on T.V.

Lipstick Sally & the Knee Capper

On second thought, that would make her even more appealing to Goober Nation.

Well I prayed to the donkey god that Lieberman would be McSames VP choice but what I got was even better. If my dollar donation will turn the spotlight on Sarah Barracuda, she has got it. Go Sarah.

Let the Republicans keep talking about the next election cycle. We'll worry about governing.

Devoting any thought to 2012 is a ridiculous waste of time, considering all of the conventional wisdom that was thrown out this time around. Remember, as late as December of last year, Clinton v. Romney was a foregone conclusion. This false assumption about 2008 is proof that making any kind of prediction about what the political landscape will be like in 2012, and which candidates will be most viable as candidates is absurd.

Let's worry about governance. If we mess up the next four years, there may not be a country for candidates to fight over.

Boy-say this again, wahooligan. How can any one be talking about 2012. There's four years of days to be lived until then. Who the heck can know where we will all be coming from then. Jeez-

Can she just be sacrificed now? Why wait for 2012?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:35 PM on 11/15/2008

Amen to that. Had enough of Ms. Sarah Palin's non-sense...
On the other hand, perhaps the fact the the media is still foaming at the mouth to get a chance to interview Sarah will be a good thing. Let her sit in front of every media spinhead and let her continue to blather all of her nonsense, this time without McCain's folks looking over her shoulder. And while they're at it, have McCain tag along, like he did during her...er, I mean HIS campaign, repeating again and again how PROUD he is of her. That oughta do it! You betcha.

Thanks to what I've seen of their stupid and corrupt governor, their corrupt government and politics, their parasitism off the other 49, and their rightwing evangelical ways, Alaskans have cured me of my lifelong desire to visit that state someday.

I know not all Alaskans are like this but she really did open up Pandora's box and give a bad impression of the state.

I think the animosity she bred everywhere will seriously reduce the amount of pork Alaska is getting from Congress.

Alaska's a beautiful country. And sparsely populated. You should still go check it out!

Let's talk about 2009. There is a lot of work to do.

This year's two-year primary was not a good thing. I'd like to see some way to enforce that a primary campaign doesn't go on for more than six months.

It would really be nice if we could not talk about running a campaign for at least 1 year and concentrate on what would be best for the country. I don't see it happening, as all the political hacks from the main stream press, and to some extent talk radio, always have to come up with dividing the country into groups and which group would benefit, and if so and so votes this way it will set them up to run for the Senate or President or whatever.

If Palin launches her 2012 campaign from Colorado City, Arizona, McCain's polygamists will sew her some pastel dresses. BANKING ON HEAVEN . COM

What precisely is the reason to talk about a 2012 presidential candidate in 2008?
Let me apply a retrospective.

Back in 2004, No one saw Obama coming up so soon, nor McCain at all for that matter.
No one saw Kerry coming in 2000
or W. Bush in 1996
or Clinton in 1988

Aside from incumbents and their VP's, the only somewhat predictable candidate I can think of since 1976 was Bob Dole. Let's give it a rest and see what the primaries and caucases bring us going into 2012.

That's not true.

Though it is simply hearsay and you don't know me from nothing, but I was watching Bush accept his victory to Texas governorship in 1994 and I said, "That's your next president right there."

I thought that Obama would run, but I had no idea it would be so soon. I was positive that Hill would mudstomp every poor sap that came up against her.

So, I had Bush in 2000, but this is all just a guessing game anyways, so I was just a good guesser then.

I agree that it's all idle speculation as to who will emerge as the GOP nominee in 2012, and using history as a guide, it won't be anyone who is currently being touted as the frontrunner (my guess for this parlor game - Charlie Crist, who is young, dynamic, closer to the center, and attractive to a range of voters. Unknown sexuality is his Achilles heel.)

That being said -- I love having Sarah Palin around, although I will in all likelyhood loose my teeth from the constant grinding that her voice and visage inspires.

Sarah Palin is just what David Brooks identified: A Cancer on the Republican Party. She will divide both members and supporters, drive thinking people away from the party, attract a retardataire constituency, inspire infighting and backstabbing, I could go on and on.

She's not presidential material now, and never will be. But she believes in her own myth and is going to keep trying to push through that door because she thinks the good lord has tabbed her as the true leader, and her efforts will severly damage the party.

Go Sarah Go!

I am so sick an tired of hearing about 2012! Wasn't this election cycle draining (and LONG) enough? First when Barack won it was, "Oh Hillary is going to do ANYTHING to get elected in 2012" and now this Palin thing...and everyone else in between. And then 2016?!?! Yikes! I hate this guessing game of political punditry. No one knows what could happen in four years! Sarah Palin could fall out of her helicopter and get eaten by wolves!

Isn't there something else we could be reporting on? Like, I don't know, the TWO wars that have been noticeably absent from most mainstream news coverage. I can't wait until January 20th so we can stop talking about all of this silly forecasting business. I would like to focus on the present so we can fix what needs to be fixed so we can move on.

And hopefully re-elect a very successful President Obama in 2012. :)

Rachel Maddow says that Palin didn't get voted on to any of the Republican Governors committee posts. I guess not everyone see's her star qualities.

This is a joke, isn't it? To elect someone like this as our President is just next to ridiculous. To have someone like this represent our country has to be the most absurd thing that I've ever heard. I don't understand why we are even talking about this. I can't even stand to listen to her talk. She just says a bunch of words with no real meaning. How can she think that she presidential material. I'm sorry, she would be an embarrassment to this country. The fact that this is even being considered is a very scary thing.
