Diane Sawyer Lands Ashley Dupre, Eliot Spitzer's Hooker

Ashley Dupre, Eliot Spitzer's paid-for paramour, has spilled her guts to ABC News' Diane Sawyer.

But she didn't exactly tell all.

Sawyer interviewed the New Jersey runaway who became a high-priced hooker, it was confirmed Friday - but it's unlikely there will be any details about her dalliance with the former governor.

"People who think this is all about Eliot Spitzer are going to be disapointed," an insider said. "Diane has done extensive reporting on prostitution. This is another chapter in that reporting."

Another Diane Sawyer Reports from the Far Side? Going back to the Bill Clinton Sexcapades that tainted his White House ABC has always been at the forefront of public figures and their indiscretions with sex tidbits and other detailing and outrageous revelations of every scandalous moment.

Bill Clinton went as far as to chide the late Peter Jennings in an exclusive over the dogged news "reporting" that dealt with the same issues that, long over, should have remained out of the public spotlight.

With the Spitzer's it becomes, "Why do they get a happy ending? After all the garbage why do they get to stay together and why is she sticking "by her man?"" Let's make the process more difficult for them to continue to move on with an extensive and, yes, revealing report of prostitution with some of Eliot's personal idiocies "yes, socks on?!" to "Why someone like you?" We, the public viewing audience, have heard it all before.

Come on Diane - You can surely do better or maybe the Far Side is all that is left for you.

Give the story a chance. Hookers are trying to turn a dime. Some like Ashley, can turn quite a few dimes. But this isn't an occupation. When the Ashleys of the world get old, they get dumped to the curb. What then?

People may not have sympathy but guess what? 50,000 are getting laid off by Citigroup. Not that everyone is going to get that desperate but you don't know, do you?

Yes, it is an occupation. It's a lot like professional sports in terms of career duration and the chances of making it to "The Show." Interestingly, the two are also a lot alike in terms of the chances of contracting a career ending injury or disease. This includes AIDS. Most of the differences result fromhooking's illegality. Thus, its practitioners have an odds on chance of being regularly abused physically and taken advantage of financially by "managers" as well as clients. Of the legal athletes probably only boxers come close in terms financial abuse.

One other telling difference, Because they are regularly tested, professional athletes are much less likely than hookers to be addicted to drugs.
